We ain’t afraid of no ghosts. In fact, we seek them – ghost points, that is. Ghost points are fantasy points that do not come from attacking returns or clean sheets. These can come in the form of key passes, shots on target, successful dribbles, interceptions, and tackles, among others. Identifying these points is essential for your Fantasy EPL prospects, and our Gameweek 27 Ghost Point Hunters article is here to help!

This Ghost Point Hunters article is based on the Fantrax Scoring System. Check out our Ghost Point Tracker page for the full list of Fantasy EPL players and their respective Ghost Point capabilities!
Gameweek 27 Ghost Point Hunters
We roll on to the business end of the season. Prior to a mini DGW and then the blankpocalypse, we have GW27. Here are your nominees for the big board: Declan Rice, two crafty CDM+ types - Vinicius de Souza & Joao Gomes - and Frank Onyeka. Meanwhile, Honorable Mention kudos go to Emerson, Ayew, Gross, & Dunk. And the Dr. Peter Venkman Award is heading to the Black Country - with Hwang Hee Chan as the addressee. Let's get it.
Declan Rice
Position: Midfielder
Team: Arsenal
Rostered: 100%
Ghost Points Per Start: 6.7
Ghost Points Last GW: 11.5
Prospects: Rice has always been a tricky fantasy asset. He's a CDM at heart - but he has CDM+ potential upside. His versatility is valued by his managers but can hurt his fantasy prospects. When he's in a pure holding role with no set pieces, his production is rather limited. When he's given some freedom and some sets, he's a dangerous MID3. For much of the season at Arsenal he's been more of the former but recently he's been the latter. A few gameweeks ago, he started taking left-sided corners (poor Martinelli) and playing more LCM with Kai up top and Jorginho as the anchor CDM. The points have largely flowed as a result (Burnley notwithstanding). Rice's GPPS form (ghost points per start over the last 3 GWs) is 8.3 and he has bagged a goal and 3 assists during this stretch. Most recently, he delivered double digit ghosts stemming from 4 Key Passes, 1 Shot on Target, 1 Interception, & 1 Aerial. We'll see what happens with Rice when everyone is healthy (e.g., Jesus) but the omens are good that this will continue.
Verdict: Try trading him in - open with a DGW mid like Ryan Christie plus big name DEF like Ruben Dias. This is unlikely to be accepted but can get the conversation going. Be open to forfeiting short term value for ROS upside.
Vinicius de Souza/Joao Gomes
Position: Midfielders
Team: Sheffield United & Wolves
Rostered: 25% & 39%
Ghost Points Per Start: 6.1 & 5.3
Ghost Points Last GW: 9.5 & 9
Prospects: We here at GPH are all about giving flowers to the under the radar grafters. Well, Vini de Souza & Joao Gomes fit the bill. These two usually keep a steady floor and have the capability to nick attacking returns. They can do a job as your MID5. De Souza is fresh off a 9.5 ghost point outing - an all action performance encompassing 1 Key Pass, 5 Tackles Won (!), 1 ACNC, 1 Blocked Shot, & 1 Aerial. He has a mouthwatering 13 PPS over the past 5 whilst playing for the worst team in the league. Gomes, on the other hand, was coming off a brace in the previous GW when he nicked 9 counting stats against his compatriot's SHU - he racked up 2 Key Passes, 1 Shot on Target, 3 Tackles Won. He has 2 goals and 1 assist in his last 4 starts. In short, these two are worth consideration if you're in the market for midfield depth in the future.
Verdict: Pick them up if you need a MID5 streamer.
Frank Onyeka
Position: Midfielder
Team: Brentford
Rostered: 3%
Ghost Points Per Start: 7.6
Ghost Points Last GW: 10.5
Prospects: The burly midfielder has slotted in the past two matches and has dropped 10+ ghosts on the trot. His 10.5 scary scores against West Ham came from the following: 2 Key Passes, 1 Shot on Target, 4 Tackles Won, & 1 Clearance. We thought Onyeka's 12.5 spot v City in GW 25 was an aberration but then he up and did it again v West Ham. This is a great sign going into the next few GWs where midfield streamers are at a premium. The fact that Onyeka will not blank in GW29 is the icing on the cake. Let's hope he keeps this up - if so, he's a cheeky pickup for us.
Verdict: Pick him up! He can do a job in a pinch over the next two GWs and is a must stream if he starts in the upcoming blank GW.
Honorable Mention:
Emerson (West Ham United DEF; 25.75 ghosts): The mercurial Left Back had the game of the century - a goal, an assist, and a bag of ghosts. Two goals conceded couldn't even dent this production. He has potential upside in his locker but don't expect this to ever happen again. He does, however, look like a good candidate for your DEF in the blank GW.
Jordan Ayew (Crystal Palace FWD; 20.5 ghosts): Ayew just doesn't know when to quit. He had a bumper day against ten man Burnley and is seemingly fixture/manager proof. He's your ride or die FWD3. We salute you.
Pascal Gross (Brighton MID; 17 ghosts): The silky German cannot stop ghosting. It's getting pretty ridiculous. If it wasn't for Bukayo Saka, Gross could stake a claim to top scoring midfielder. We wish we had him on one of our rosters. We'll pick him 2nd round next season and ruin him. Enjoy Gross while it lasts.
Lewis Dunk (Brighton DEF; 16.5 ghosts): The big fella doesn't usually ghost but he did this past GW. Everton seems to be a nice opponent for towering DEFs like Dunk - having to field all the poor crosses works up an appetite. It was a nice GW - now you can drop him.
Category Killers:
Key Passes: Pascal Gross (6)
Successful Dribbles: Mohammed Kudus (11)
Aerials: Jefferson Lerma (11)
Accurate Crosses Not Corners (ACNCs): Jordan Ayew (5)
Tackles Won: Vinicius de Souza (5)
Interceptions: Emerson (5)
Dr. Peter Venkman Award:
Hwang Hee Chan (Wolves FWD; 0 ghosts): We've very much enjoyed the Wolves mini-renaissance this season. They've long disproved the haters that seemingly predict relegation for the club every season. But now they're doing even better - and, more importantly, scoring goals! Gary O'Neill has the troops banging them in. Hwang Hee Chan has been a primary beneficiary of this new attacking verve. He has 10 goals & 3 assists in just 19 starts - impressive stuff. This, in turn, has equated to a ton of fantasy points for surprised fantasy managers. He has been a steal for those gamblers who punted on him to discover some form. While this is all well and good, he still can't ghost. Hwang is only mustering a 4.5 GPPS in this landmark season. This past GW, he ended with a goose egg - 2 Aerials drowned out by 2 Dispossessions. He has always had this in his locker. Rosterers have to take the bad with the good. This isn't the first and won't be the last time he gets Venkman'd.
