Waiver Wire Gameweek 5
Here we outline our Fantasy EPL GW5 Waiver Wire targets that have 40% rostered or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!
Leif Davis (Ros 31%)
Prospects: Leif Davis just put in the kind of shift that shouldn't be slept on in most leagues. A goal and two assists in the 3-2 win away at Crystal Palace, from a left back, is the sort of ceiling week you hope for when drafting defenders, and especially ones you rarely get from the waiver wire. Did I also mention that he rattled the post? Ipswich now travel to Everton, and murmurs have already started about him possibly getting an England call-up off the back of his impressive performances. Grab him before your league mates notice him.
Verdict: High priority. $7-9 FAB.
Xaver Schlager (Ros 5%)
Prospects: Xaver Schlager did what he was bought to do at the base of Nottingham Forest's midfield under Oliver Glasner. Four tackles won and three clearances, on top of a shot on target, for 10 points is the kind of defensive floor that keeps showing up whether or not the goals do. Nothing fancy, nothing extraordinary, but scores like these keep your team ticking over. Forest host Coventry next, a fixture that looks kind for anyone shielding their back four, and Schlager's minutes look secure enough for at least one more week before eventually being dropped for the IB. He's not a fancy pick, and likely won't get you 15-20 FPts, but if you are desperate for a midfielder, he's definitely worth a pickup.
Verdict: Low priority. $1-3 FAB.
Brennan Johnson (Ros 17%)
Prospects: Despite Brennan Johnson starting the last 2 games for David Moyes, he keeps sliding out of rosters in leagues, as his ROS% has dropped down another four points this week to 17%. Although he didn't get on the scoresheet against Tottenham, he still looked decent enough on an Everton team that's not doing that much to try and score. 8.75 points is ok for a forward, and facing Ipswich next could finally net him the oh-so-elusive first goal for the Toffees. Keep an eye on a potential Grealish start though, which could push him out of the XI.
Verdict: Low priority. $1-3 FAB.
