Table Metrics

  • PPS (Points Per Start): A much more indicative metric of a player’s true value, as very rarely will we every start players in fantasy when they’re not in the real-world starting XI.

  • gPPS (Ghost Points Per Start): A measure of the average points a player accumulates from actions other than goals, assists, and clean sheets.

  • GACS% (Goal, Assists, Clean Sheet %): A measure of the percentage of a player’s fantasy points that come directly from G, A, CS.

  • Starts: The number of real-world games a player started in the Premier League.

  • Fpts: Total fantasy points scored, which does include points they might have scored in sub appearances.

  • WAR (Wins Above Replacement): Originally a baseball stat, this metric calculates a player's value over an average, replacement-level player off the waiver wire. Scores range from -0.13 to 3.80.

  • RkOv (Rank Overall): A player's end-of-season rank among all players based on total fantasy points.

  • Big 3 ADP (Average Draft Position): Within the Draft Community, there are 3 ultra-competitive leagues open to anyone looking for a challenge: The Community League, The Discord Super League, and the International Genie League. We display the average draft position of players using the average of these 3 leagues to represent where plugged in, knowledgeable managers drafted certain players.

Arsenal

# of Top 20 Fantasy Performers: 0 (surprising but not if one considers the injuries to key players)

# of Top 50 Fantasy Performers: 2 (Saka & Rice)

# of Players w/ 2500+ mins: 4 (Saliba, Rice, Partey, Trossard)

The Gunners' attacking returns and fantasy points were there but, unfortunately for our purposes, pretty widely dispersed. Injuries, of course, played a big role in this, with arguably the top 3 attacking assets (Saka, Odegaard, & Havertz) all facing lengthy layoffs. This disappointed fantasy managers who expended significant draft capital on these three, who all went in the first or second round. As doors close, others open, however. These knocks yielded some tasty streams over the course of the season, with Jesus, Nwaneri, & Merino, in particular, all having their brief time in the sun. Their fantasy fortunes next season will likely hinge again on team fitness.

Top Fantasy Performers

In terms of PPS, which gives a more accurate indication of fantasy performance, especially given the injuries, these are the top 5 standouts for Arsenal (minimum of 15 starts; in order of PPS from highest to lowest): Saka, Martinelli, Havertz, Merino, and Gabriel Magalhaes. The likes of Odegaard, Rice, & Trossard are just below this group. Merino may come as a surprise inclusion but his late season goal exploits after replacing Kai up top produced a good amount of fantasy points in the latter stage of the season. Martinelli was fairly inconsistent but still provided the goods while Rice was more of a Steady Eddie with a few decent hauls due to attacking returns. At the back, Gabriel Magalhaes' scores dipped a bit after the early season set piece extravaganza dissipated but were solid.

Draft Day Values

This is a struggle. The emerging assets that became value due to injury, such as Nwaneri and Merino, were not drafted. One surprising value draft pick that stands out, however, is Leandro Trossard. While viewed as quality depth, due to the fitness issues, he ended up with 28 starts - 10 more than the previous campaign - and posted a respectable PPS of just under 9.

Draft Day Busts

Unfortunately, there are more than a few contenders for this ominous distinction. Again, much of this is due to injuries, which crippled many of Arsenal's assets. But these players stand out: Ben White; Martin Odegaard; and Gabriel Jesus. Quite a few managers drafted White in Round 5 on the back of his pleasantly surprising 23/24 exploits. But Jurrien Timber's return and some knocks largely confined him to the bench (just 13 starts compared to 35 the prior campaign). Even when he did play, his scores were fairly mediocre. Odegaard went late first round in most drafts but failed to live up to this lofty draft position. An injury - surprise, surprise - kept him out for a stretch and then he didn't look like the same player even after he came back. And it was the same old tragic story with Gabriel Jesus. He put in some great performances before succumbing to yet another long term injury. It's a pity that many fell for it again, taking him as high as Round 4/5 in the draft.

Potential Departures

There really aren't any fantasy relevant players on their way out of the Emirates outside of Thomas Partey, who has been a borderline streamer. Tierney, Sterling, ZInchenko, and Neto should all be leaving but these departures won't be impactful fantasy-wise.
