Table Metrics

  • PPS (Points Per Start): A much more indicative metric of a player’s true value, as very rarely will we every start players in fantasy when they’re not in the real-world starting XI.

  • gPPS (Ghost Points Per Start): A measure of the average points a player accumulates from actions other than goals, assists, and clean sheets.

  • GACS% (Goal, Assists, Clean Sheet %): A measure of the percentage of a player’s fantasy points that come directly from G, A, CS.

  • Starts: The number of real-world games a player started in the Premier League.

  • Fpts: Total fantasy points scored, which does include points they might have scored in sub appearances.

  • WAR (Wins Above Replacement): Originally a baseball stat, this metric calculates a player's value over an average, replacement-level player off the waiver wire. Scores range from -0.13 to 3.80.

  • RkOv (Rank Overall): A player's end-of-season rank among all players based on total fantasy points.

  • Big 3 ADP (Average Draft Position): Within the Draft Community, there are 3 ultra-competitive leagues open to anyone looking for a challenge: The Community League, The Discord Super League, and the International Genie League. We display the average draft position of players using the average of these 3 leagues to represent where plugged in, knowledgeable managers drafted certain players.

Liverpool

# of Top 20 Fantasy Performers: 4 (Salah, Diaz, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk)

# of Top 50 Fantasy Performers: 5 (Salah, Diaz, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Szoboszlai)

# of Players w/ 2500+ mins: 6 (Salah, VanDijk, Alisson, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Konate)

The Scousers in red surprised everyone last year with their consistent performances in the league, which led to claiming the title at an absolute canter. On the fantasy football pitch, however, things weren't so straightforward. Liverpool assets were far less dependable than their real-world performances would have suggested. Whether dealing with concerns around rotation, injury, or form, most Liverpool players frustrated fantasy managers for a spell and many were dropped or traded low just before a purple patch.

Top Fantasy Performers

Clearly headlining this list is Mo Salah, who delivered one of the best fantasy football seasons we've ever seen. Generally, those who drafted Mo also did quite well in their leagues. Averaging a ridiculous 20 Fpts per start, he carried most teams. Those managers may be left with a bit of a sour taste, however, after the Egyptian's poor form to end the season. This, of course, was also true of Liverpool as a unit. Similarly, though much maligned for his stretches of poor form (and fantasy scores), Trent Alexander-Arnold proved once again that he's valuable in draft EPL, averaging 12.5 PPS and finishing as the 3rd best defender in the game. And finally, Luis Diaz earned the 12th spot overall in FPts with 412 total. Again, though, if you'd have spoken to a Diaz manager after his 3 point outing vs Ipswich, you'd have seen that there were a fair number of frustrations in rostering him.

Draft Day Values

Here's the bad news: most Liverpool assets in 24/25 failed to deliver on their draft day value. In general, there wasn't much value to be had. Salah delivered on his ADP of 5 and Trent delivered on his ADP of 13, finishing #1 and #15 overall, respectively. These players don't represent value; their ADP just mirrored their true value. The same could be said of Szoboszlai and Mac Allister who finished within touching distance of where they were drafted. The biggest value to be found in 24/25 drafts was Luis Diaz, who would have commanded a late-2nd or early-3rd round pick only to end up as the #13 overall player at season's end. And Van Dijk, similarly, was drafted with an ADP of 52, ending the season as the 19th overall player. Many doubted VVD after a shambolic end to the 23/24 season, but the big Dutchman proved that he can still deliver.

Draft Day Busts

It's finally time to talk about the elephant in the room: Darwin Nunez. The firebrand Uruguayan was drafted on average in the late 2nd round in 24/25. He finished as the 232nd overall player, starting only 8 matches in the process. Even those of us who thought this ADP was too expensive never thought it couldn't get that bad. Slot, however, did show a clear desire to play a consistent #9. It's just that Darwin isn't that guy and likely never will be. Robertson also had a major falloff. Drafted around the 4th round, he finished 200th overall. Likely a combination of showing his age and the Slot system stifling him, Robbo's days as an elite fantasy defender (and maybe even as a Liverpool player) are probably numbered. It will be fascinating to see if Milos Kerkez can restore the Liverpool LB position to fantasy football glory. Finally, Diogo Jota had one of the most frustrating fantasy seasons we've ever seen. After suffering long stretches on the physio's table (as he is wont to do), his return to action was marked by incredibly poor performances, a lack of fantasy points, and rotation.

Potential Departures

Trent Alexander-Arnold has made his high-profile free transfer to Real Madrid, leaving a question mark at right back between Frimpong and Bradley. Caoimhin Kelleher has also completed his move to Brentford in search of first-team football. And it would stand to reason that Darwin Nunez's time at Anfield has come to a close, as the club field offers for him. Harvey Elliot is another player who is extremely likely to leave this summer since he's clearly not in Slot's plans. As mentioned above, there is also speculation about Robertson moving on during this summer window. Also, entering the realm of pure rumor-mongering, there is chatter around the potential departure of Luis Diaz (if Liverpool can secure the 80m they believe he''s worth). In less fantasy-relevant news, Federico Chiesa and Jarell Quansah are headed out.
