Waiver Wire Gameweek 8
Here we outline our Fantasy EPL Gameweek 8 Waiver Wire targets that are 40% rostered (Ros) or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!
Konstantinos Mavropanos (Ros 3%)
Prospects: I was originally going to slot in Max Kilman here, but based on their respective fantasy performances against Arsenal, I’ve opted for the Greek centre back instead. Nuno’s West Ham held Arsenal to just two goals at the Emirates, something I wouldn’t have predicted a few weeks ago under Graham Potter's reign Thankfully (atleast for fantasy defenders), Nuno brings a more defensive-minded approach, and I wouldn’t mind taking a punt on potential DEF3 numbers for the rest of the season from either Mavropanos or Kilman. Mavropanos is averaging just over 7 points per start, and I like his upcoming run of fixtures: BRF, LEE, NEW, BUR, and BOU.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him
Mats Wieffer (Ros 32%)
Prospects: The versatile Dutchman returned to the lineup this weekend after being sidelined since August with an injury. He’s a regular starter when fit and posted 6 points this gameweek (1 goal allowed) after coming off the bench to provide an assist against 10-man Chelsea last week. He hasn’t shown much yet, though that’s largely due to limited playing time , but if he can rediscover the form he showed late last season (the same form many managers drafted him for), he’s a solid pickup heading into the international break. Over his final six starts of last season, he averaged 13.6 points per start.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 4-5 FAB to get him.
Donyell Malen (Ros 16%)
Prospects: The moment we’ve all been waiting for? Who knew the key to reigniting Villa’s season would be Donyell Malen. A monstrous 27.5-point performance with two goals against Burnley surely rewarded the risk-taking managers who streamed him for the favorable fixture. It was only the Dutch international’s second start of the season but Emery spoke highly of him in the post-game presser. The schedule doesn’t look great after Spurs post-international break, but he’ll likely keep his starting role even through the City and Liverpool matches based on this weekend’s brace. Villa are clearly desperate for sparks.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him
