Southampton Sleepers

As noted above, these are potential Fantrax Sleepers from Southampton . These Fantasy EPL players are likely to be drafted in the later rounds. Read below for three under the radar players who could provide excellent value in your pre-season draft.

Nathan Redmond

Position: Midfielder

20/21 Points: 175.5 (164th overall)

20/21 Points Per Start: 8.6

Recommended Draft Pick: 85 to 108 (12 Team League: Round 8-9)

Overview: Redmond struggled to find consistency this season with poor form, injuries, and being in and out of the starting XI.

He will be hoping to build on his somewhat strong finish to the season with a good campaign in the 21/22 season. Nathan Tella will be pushing hard for Redmond's spot in the XI, but I am backing Redmond to have a much better season. Due to his rotation risk and patchy form, I probably wouldn't draft him until round 8, where he could provide great MID3 value to your roster. On his day Redmond can accumulate 20+ points even without an attacking return. Southampton have a tough start to the season, but Redmond will be hoping to lock down his role in the XI.

Jan Bednerak

Position: Defender

20/21 Points: 183.5 (147th overall)

20/21 Points Per Start: 5.1

Recommended Draft Pick: 169 to 192 (12 Team League: Round 15-16)

Overview: Bednerak and Southampton struggled to keep the ball out of the net last season, but he still managed to average 7.5 ghost points/90. A stronger showing at the back from the Saints and he has the potential to be a top 20 defender.

I wouldn't draft Bednerak until the last rounds of the draft, due to Southampton's tough early schedule. He is one that is worth punting on as a DEF 4/5 especially if Southampton improve defensively. Bednerak is a rock in the XI, and will rarely miss a match. I am in the camp that believes Southampton have a much better season, and Bednerak will be a big part of that. Southampton conceded 68 goals which was the 2nd most in the EPL last season, so there really is no room to get worse for them.

Nathan Tella

Position: Midfielder

20/21 Points: 55 (339th overall)

20/21 Points Per Start: 4.6

Recommended Draft Pick: 169 to 192 (12 Team League: Round 15-16)

Overview: Tella only made 7 starts last season, but will be looking to improve that and give players like Redmond and Che Adams a challenge for their spot.

Tella showed flashes of brilliance near the end of the season, and will be hoping to grab a starting spot next season. At only 22 years old there is every chance Tella will be given a chance, seeing as he is the future of Southampton, and he is definitely worth a punt in the late rounds. If you can draft him as your MID6/7, he has the upside of a MID3 whenever he starts. Worst case you drop him to the FA for a starter after a few gameweeks, but in round 16 few players will have the upside Tella can offer.
