Getting your team selection correct in Draft Premier League is just as essential as your pre-season draft or your weekly waiver wire claims. And this is why we’re here to help with our Gameweek 30 Start and Sit article! We're here to talk you through some of the big Fantasy EPL decisions you may need to make for the upcoming fixtures.

This article dovetails particularly well with the Fantrax Weekly Rankings submitted on Fantrax HQ every week! Go check it out, we're the Official Content Providers for Fantrax HQ!

Gameweek 30 Start and Sit

Whether you’re an obsessed EPL fan like our Draft Society team, or a casual player new to the world of Fantasy EPL, you know to start your attacking players against relegation threatened sides. We’re not going to waste your time dealing with the obvious! The goal of this article is to delve into notable players across each Fantrax position and let you know if you should be starting or sitting those particular players.

For our Gameweek 30 Start and Sit candidates, we’re going to highlight one player in detail for each section, as well as suggesting another alternate. Let us get to it!

Defender Starts

Jannik Vestergaard vs BUR

In what is truly a match made in heaven, the Danish big man is facing the aerial attack of Sean Dyche's Burnley. The last time Vestergaard faced Burnley he finished with 9 aerials won, 13 clearances, and 18.25 points to his name. Such a dominant performance might not be on the cards this time around, as Southampton have been struggling of late, but his ghost points should leave any manager with a decent haul.

Alternate:

Luke Ayling vs SHU

Matty Cash vs FUL

Defender Sits

Joel Veltman vs MUN

Veltman has been a revelation since inheriting Tariq Lamptey's spot in the Brighton starting XI. Facing a potential title-chasing United team is a mighty task, however. A clean sheet is unlikely and with limited attacking freedom his overall points potential will be quite low this week. I would not drop him but would certainly start a good matchup streamer ahead of him this week.

Alternate:

Timothy Castagne vs MCI

Jonny vs WHU

Midfielder Starts

Kai Havertz vs WBA

Chelsea had 3 back-to-back vitally important games and the German youngster played 90 minutes in all of them (EVE, LEE, ATM). Tuchel finally deployed him in the false nine position he was so lethal in for Leverkusen last season, and Havertz has repaid his compatriot's faith in him with some excellent performances. He continued his great form on international duty scoring a goal and assisting one in 2 starts. Facing Big Sam's West Brom is just what the doctor ordered for him to kick into an even higher gear for the Premier League run-in

Alternates:

Jack Harrison vs SHU

Jorginho vs WBA

Stuart Armstrong vs BUR

Midfielder Sits

Matheus Pereira vs CHE

David vs Goliath could be on the marketing material for this game, but that would only tell half the story; I do not foresee a David-esque performance from the Midlands club. The Brazilian playmaker has constantly been played out of position by Big Sam, stuck either on the wing or upfront, unable to influence games and has been a shadow of his early-season (or more like last season) self. However, even if played in his preferred position, I would still most likely sit him this week as Chelsea have become a ruthless unit under Tuchel and I do not see many opportunities for him to get points.

Alternate:

Youri Tielemans vs MCI

Kalvin Phillips vs SHU

Forward Starts

Raphinha vs SHU

This is pretty much a no-brainer, he is ranked an incredibly high 6th in our Rest of the Season Top 200 and is a must-start against any team. When he is facing the team already halfway down in the Championship, you are expecting a point tsunami: double figure ghost points and a couple of attacking returns could be on the cards here.

Alternates

Patrick Bamford vs SHU

Richarlison vs CRY

Forward Sits

Edinson Cavani vs BHA

Facing Brighton might seem like a good fixture for Cavani, on paper, but the veteran Argentinian striker has found it hard to produce the goods even when facing lesser opponents. His ghost points are virtually non-existent, so any chance for him to get some points comes from an attacking return. With Martial doubtful, one would expect Cavani to feature from the start, but he himself has been recovering from injury, so he might not make the starting XI. Starting or not, he will not be on my roster when the whistle is blown.

Alternate:

Kelechi Iheanacho vs MCI

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang vs LIV
