Fantrax EPL: Gameweek 38 Ghost Point Hunters

Updated: May 21, 2021

We ain’t afraid of no ghosts. In fact, we seek them – ghost points, that is. Ghost points are fantasy points that do not come from attacking returns or clean sheets. These can come in the form of key passes, successful dribbles, interceptions, accurate crosses, and aerials, among others. Identifying these points is essential for your Fantasy EPL prospects, and our Gameweek 38 Ghost Point Hunters article is here to help!

This Gameweek 38 Ghost Point Hunters article is based on the Fantrax Scoring System.

Gameweek 38 Ghost Point Hunters

End of the Road. Closing Time. Two great 90s tracks, also an accurate description of where we are in this topsy turvy Fantasy EPL season. This is the final gameweek, GW 38, and we're gonna close with two somewhat under-the-radar ghost point warriors and one Fantasy EPL legend to drive you off into the Fantrax sunset: Calum Chambers, Liam Cooper, and Andros Townsend. One more thing: it's been emotional.

Calum Chambers

Position: Defender

Team: The Arsenal

Rostered: 7% (insulting)

Ghost Points GW37: 14

Ghost Points Per 90: 8.1

Next Opponent: Brighton

Prospects: With Bellerin seemingly out ROS, this should be Calum's spot for the final game.

Verdict: Should be on your waiver wire unless your league is not full of philistines.

Injuries have blighted this handsome utility defender's career but he perseveres; that's Calum Chambers. He does a job. And now we know he also talks to ghosts, having produced over a dozen scary scores (14 ghost points - 2 points for a goal conceded) this past GW versus Crystal Palace. Chambers was immense on both ends, delivering 2 Key Passes, 1 Tackle Won, 1 Accurate Cross, 4 Interceptions, 4 Clearances, and 3 Aerials. And this wasn't a one off. His GPP90 of over 8 is nothing to shake a stick at. With Hector Bellerin still nursing a knock (supposedly), Chambers should get another run out in the final game versus Brighton at home and I expect more of the same. This makes him a top end defensive streamer for the final GW.

Liam Cooper

Position: Defender

Team: Leeds United

Rostered: 30%

Ghost Points GW37: 12.5

Ghost Points Per 90: 9.7

Next Opponent: West Bromwich Albion

Prospects: Cooper is captain and is back from a knock, he should be nailed on for Championship Sunday.

Verdict: If he isn't on your waiver wire, put in a cheeky trade for him.

Oh captain, my captain. Liam Cooper starred as the likeable but tenacious Captain in the "Leeds United: Take Us Home" documentary, not to be confused with "Tottenham Hotspur: All or Nothing" (emphasis on the latter) that also was released on Amazon Prime Video. He then followed that up with a cameo in "The Sixth Sense" this past GW. In that role, Cooper posted over a dozen ghost points to go with a clean sheet. These came from 2 Tackles Won, 8 Interceptions (dear God), 2 Clearances, and 2 Aerials. Cooper should have similar opportunities this Sunday versus West Bromwich Albion, where he'll play a supporting role in the indie short film, "Big Sam's Last Stand".

Andros Townsend

Position: Midfielder

Team: Crystal Palace

Rostered: 66%

Ghost Points GW37: 17.5

Ghost Points Per 90: 8.8

Next Opponent: Liverpool

Prospects: With Eze out, he should be nailed on and ready to ball.

Verdict: Will be available on a few wires; if not, try to trade him in. Offer a MID3/4, FWD2, or DEF2/3+1.

The man that needs no introduction but will receive one anyway. Andros Townsend, lovingly referred to by a select few as "Dros", is a Fantasy EPL ledge. He has certainly had his ups and downs, particularly this season, but it makes my heart melt to see him getting back to his best. Following up on his tasty 16.5 ghost point performance in GW36, Dros one-upped himself with 17.5 ghosties this past GW, to go along with an assist. With the unfortunate long-term injury suffered by fellow Crystal Palace midfielder, Eberechi Eze, Townsend will be locked in for the final game at Anfield. Get him in and be a part of history.
