Waiver Wire Gameweek 3

Here we outline our Fantasy EPL Waiver Wire Gameweek 3 targets that have 40% rostered or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!

Nathan Collins (Ros 32%)

Prospects: According to our Fixture Difficulty Tracker, Brentford DEFs have the best-rated fixture for Gameweek 3 as they host Southhampton, one of only two teams without any points or goals scored for the season. This should bode well for any Brentford DEF, especially Nathan Collins, who is currently the top-scoring Bees asset for the season. Not only does he have an assist to his name, the young Irish DEF is currently the 2nd best ghost point per 90 minutes (gPP90) scoring defender in the game at 15.5 ghost points, only behind Antonee Robinson. This might be unsustainable, but for a one-week punt versus the Saints, it seems perfect.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him.

Ola Aina (Ros 7%)

Prospects: Although the easy-fixture run for Nottingham Forest is quickly coming to an end, Nuno Espírito Santo will want to keep his undefeated streak (1W-1D) going into the international break. Our fixture difficulty tracker shows that Forest DEFs have the 3rd best-rated fixture in Gameweek 3, as they host Wolves. Although Wolves did show attacking potential during their 2-6 loss to Chelsea, they have now conceded the most goals in the league which could potentially mean attacking returns for the opposing team, from any position on the pitch. Neco Williams will be a likely candidate for attacking returns from a Forest DEF perspective, but Aina could be a great shield pick to cover that matchup. Aina currently has the 2nd highest FPts ceiling (15.9) of any Forest DEF, but might be a very short-term play as the arrival of Alex Moreno from Aston Villa could be a threat for that starts in the left-back spot.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him.

Facundo Buonanotte (Ros 16%)

Prospects: Leicester City are back amongst the big boys in the Premier League and will be aiming to get their first win of the season versus Aston Villa in Gameweek 3. The Foxes have scored in both their games for the season and will relish facing an Aston Villa team that are still finding their feet, despite an impressive end to their 23/24 campaign. One player who is starting to stand out as an attacking outlet for Leicester is on-loan Brighton boy Buonanotte. The Argentine MID has started both games for the Foxes this season and currently leads the Leicester outfielders for key passes (4), including an assist in the Gameweek 2 fixture versus Fulham. There is a slight concern regarding the minutes played, as Facundo seems to be getting subbed around the 70th minute mark, but most of the players in the league are still building their fitness for the 24/25 campaign so we would not worry too much.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him.
