We ain’t afraid of no ghosts. In fact, we seek them – ghost points, that is. Ghost points are fantasy points that do not come from attacking returns or clean sheets. These can come in the form of key passes, shots on target, successful dribbles, interceptions, and tackles, among others. Identifying these points is essential for your Fantasy EPL prospects, and our Gameweek 20 Ghost Point Hunters article is here to help!

This Ghost Point Hunters article is based on the Fantrax Scoring System. Check out our Ghost Point Tracker page for the full list of Fantasy EPL players and their respective Ghost Point capabilities!
Gameweek 20 Ghost Point Hunters
Merry Xmas, you filthy animals. We don't have much time in between fixtures so we're keeping this one relatively short but sweet. Dango Outtarra, Jarell Quansah, & Jean Phillippe Mateta round out the big board while Isak, Alvarez, Barkley, & Amari'i Bell feature in the Honorable Mention section. We're not grinches for handing out the Dr. Peter Venkman Award even during this holiday season - we're consistent. So, you're welcome, Sean Longstaff.
Dango Ouattara
Position: Forward
Team: Bournemouth
Rostered: 24%
Ghost Points Per Start: 9.6
Ghost Points Last GW: 10.5
Prospects: Dango was expected to be in contention for a winger spot in this new look Iraola squad but the Basque has largely favored Semenyo and Tavernier. As a result, the Burkinabe has only been given the nod twice this season in his favored position. But the injury to Milos Kerkez has opened up a spot at LB, and Ouattara has grabbed it with both hands. On Boxing Day, in his newfound role, he dropped 10.5 ghosties, stemming from a good mix of defensive and attacking categories: 3 Tackles Won, 3 Interceptions, 2 Clearances, 2 Successful Dribbles, 1 Blocked Shot, & 3 Aerials. This is now two starts on the trot at LB and two tasty ghost point totals (9 & 10.5). He's a good streamer at the FWD position but enjoy it while it lasts - he's off to Afcon with Burkina Faso.
Verdict: Pick him up for very short term streaming - he will be at Afcon soon.
Jarell Quansah
Position: Defender
Team: Liverpool
Rostered: 17%
Ghost Points Per Start: 7.9
Ghost Points Last GW: 12
Prospects: The youngster was given just his third start in the EPL this past GW at Turf Moor. His previous one was largely forgettable fantasy-wise: just 3.5 ghosts. So when he was on the team sheet mid-week, we flinched for a second but then pulled the trigger given that it was against Burnley. Thank goodness we followed through with the Quansah stream. The lad posted 18 total points, with a dozen scary scores to go with his clean sheet. He got there by nicking 1 Interception & an incredible 11 Aerials. It was almost as if Sean Dyche was managing his old club as Quansah just feasted on a plethora of mediocre crosses. He is clearly now second choice to Konate at RCB but given the injury woes, he will get more starts as the season progresses. This cameo makes him a must stream in decent matchups moving forward.
Verdict: He'll likely give way to Konate next GW but he's shown that he can do a job as a streamer in the future.
Jean Philippe Mateta
Position: Forward
Team: Crystal Palace
Rostered: 35%
Ghost Points Per Start: 5
Ghost Points Last GW: 10
Prospects: The Crystal Palace #9 role has been a fantasy blackhole since big Christian Benteke departed South London. The latest chap to sip from the seemingly poisoned chalice is Jean Philippe Mateta. His GPPS prior to GW 18 was just over 3. However, the tide has turned. He has delivered double digit points in his last 4 appearances. And the last two have been filled with rare ghosties: 10 & 11.5 of them in his last two starts. At Stamford Bridge, his 10 scary scores came from the following: 2 Key Passes, 1 Shot on Target, 1 Clearance, 4 Successful Dribbles, & 2 Aerials. He's working his socks off and it's turning into points. This is a clear "ride it until the wheels fall off" scenario. We know Mateta can turn back into a goal dependent pumpkin at any time, and Odsonne Edouard will likely supplant him soon. Enjoy it in the meantime.
Verdict: Pick him up!
Honorable Mention:
Alexander Isak (Newcastle United FWD; 20 ghosts): Where on earth did that come from? The lanky Swede can always drop some monsters but he is usually reliant on goals and assists. Not this time - against Forest on Boxing Day, he did the business on the ghost point front. Don't get used to it, though, as he had a GPPS under 5 prior to this Christmas miracle.
Julian Alvarez (Manchester City FWD; 17.5 ghosts): The Argentine, who has dominated set pieces with KDB out, had a few wobbles recently. But he looks like he is all the way back. With Haaland out, he has been up front, which usually means more goal chances and less touches/ghosts. Alvarez changed that this week and we now know he takes penalties when the Viking is not on the pitch. We're still a little concerned about what happens when KDB returns, but let's just enjoy Sheffield United at home in the meantime.
Ross Barkley (Luton Town MID; 13.5 ghosts): The journeyman is back in Blighty and he's still got it. He hasn't been as consistent as he once was but he still ghosts with somewhat regularity. His GPPS is around 8, which is nice for your MID4/5. Sit back and let him cook.
Amari'i Bell (Luton Town DEF; 11.75 ghosts): Luton Town is such an interesting team for fantasy points this season. Their defenders can randomly ghost. This past GW was Bell's turn. He, like Kabore & Lockyer, have proven their ghosting bonafides. They are always a risky choice given how much they concede. But no risk, no reward.
Category Killers:
Key Passes: Martin Odegaard (6)
Successful Dribbles: Rayan Ait-Nouri (6)
Aerials: Ollie McBurnie (14)
Accurate Crosses Not Corners (ACNCs): Trent Alexander Arnold (3)
Tackles Won: Gonzalo Montiel (5)
Interceptions: Amari'i Bell (5)
Dr. Peter Venkman Award:
Sean Longstaff (Newcastle United MID; 0.5 ghosts): The Magpie midfield has been largely a minefield this season, with injuries abound. Local boy Sean Longstaff has long been an enigma - can get you a brace but more likely to blank. He's usually a hail mary throw. He had a nice purple patch in September, however, which got everyone's hearts a flutter. He has underwhelmed ever since. Most recently, he failed to crack the half point threshold. Against Forest on Boxing Day, he paired 1 Interception and 1 Clearance with a dispossession. He did his damndest to earn this festive edition of the Venkman. Happy new year and howay the lads!
