This article will focus on trade advice that highlights players that are either worth trading in on a low, or trading out on a high. This could involve players who could see their minutes reduced, have a purple patch come to an end, or on the flip side involve players who might be starting to heat up. This article will also feature advice and strategy tips from our very own Draft Genie, and his interesting style of playing the game.

Fantasy EPL hints and tips

Players To Trade-In

This section will focus on players to target in your trade offers. Usually there are two types of players to trade-in. The ones you "buy low" on, who may be in a poor patch of form, injured, or not seeing consistent minutes with all that about to change. The second is where you "buy high". While that will sound contradictory, these players could be showing no signs of slowing down and are en-route to a breakout season. You want to try and trade-in these players before they become unattainable, even if it involves offering more than what their draft-day or early-season value was.

James Maddison (TOT - MID)

Analysis: Maddison has been a very frustrating player to roster this season. In and out of the XI with only 14 starts this season, and no starts in his last 3 games. But it isn't like Spurs are cooking without him. With 3 losses and 1 draw in their last 4 games, the door isn't shut for Maddison to make his way back into the XI. Maddison cooked vs. Manchester City and every chance he gets back into the XI vs. Arsenal.

For Maddison to be a good fantasy asset all he needs to do is start. He takes a good chunk of sets, and is heavily involved in every attack, he legit just needs to start. Managers will be frustrated with his lack of minutes and you can really get a cut price deal on the Spurs midfielder. He is still a massive risk to continue sitting on the bench for a while, but he has MID1 upside, especially if Ange gets the boot, which looks more likely each week. I am not saying sell the farm for Maddison, but offer his manager some secure starters, especially a midfielder, and you have probably the best upside "punt" out there right now. It is worth noting Maddison is still the 6th best midfielder in overall fantasy points and has a PPS of 15.8, which is 6th among ALL players.

It is worth noting that Bergvall played an incredible game in the cup tie vs. Liverpool. Bentancur as well suffered a head injury, thankfully he is okay, but it could mean more minutes for Maddison. The issue coming out of the cup game is just how well Bergvall played, Maddison was suspended for this fixture and will need to show Ange he deserves to start over the youngster.

Trade Offer Value: Some managers will not be keen to sell Maddison for so cheap knowing their potential, so ensure you offer guaranteed starters. An offer of Damsgaard + Enzo might have a good chance of being accepted. Both these players lack the ceiling of Maddison, but will offer more consistency. Offering out other assets such as: Szobo, Bernardo, and Kulu packaged with a steady DEF2 like Chalobah would also have a solid chance. You can add in 10-20 FAB into any offer to get the deal done.

Matheus Cunha (WOL - FWD)

Analysis: Cunha will be back for the game vs. Newcastle and he has been COOKING this season. He is definitely a top 5 ROS player, and someone who can score big points against any team. He is on penalties and the focal point for this poor Wolves team. We have seen how well the big fish in a small pond works out year after year, and it doesn't hurt that Cunha is one of the best players in the Prem right now. It may be mission impossible to get Cunha from a manger, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth trying.

Cunha currently has a PPS of 15.6, averaging 9.5 ghost points per start that provides a very solid floor especially for a forward. He has 10 goals and 4 assists to his name, and that number will only continue to grow. Wolves are heading into a tougher schedule which may make Cunha slightly more achievable in a trade, but it will still take a massive offer to bring him in.

Trade Offer Value: I would offer out any asset 1:1 for Cunha except for Salah, Bruno, and Palmer. Haaland vs. Cunha 1:1 is close over the rest of the season, I may slightly lean Haaland though for the better ceiling. If you need to offer a 2:1 an offer such as Kudus/Trent + Jackson/Semenyo has a chance of being accepted.

Players To Trade-OUT

This section will focus on players that you should be actively trying to trade out over the next week or so. These players could be on course to see a minute reduction or be having a bad season that it seems they can't recover from. A lot of times name value players will feature here, as you will still find managers who believe they can return to their glory days. Each season brings new challenges and as we have seen even the very best assets can fall off a cliff in just a single season (Rashford of 2024). Look to trade out these players before their value becomes so low that you may need to consider dropping them.

Leon Bailey (AVL - MID)

Analysis: Bailey has had back to back double digit games with one ghost point masterclass, and the other a solitary goal and not much else vs. Leicester last gameweek. Bailey was droppable up until 2 weeks ago, and I don't see any reason why he won't go back to being that. Some managers may be willing to buy into Bailey considering his form of last season, but I am approaching this "return to form" with extra caution. In his 11 starts this season he has an appalling PPS of just 4.3, and averages 3.8 gPPS.... Yikes.

Bailey is just a few single digit performances away from being droppable again. I highly recommend trying to trade him out ASAP. Getting back a set and forget asset is the obvious goal, but you may need to get crafty and aim for those with lesser name value, and throw in some FAB to get deals across the line.

Trade Offer Value: I would offer out Bailey for assets like Chalobah, Huijsen, Cook, and Murphy. Throw in FAB if you need to, or throw in an extra DEF3/MID5 if needed.

Raul Jimenez (FUL - FWD)

Analysis: Jimenez has scored 3 goals in his last two games and is coming off of a 30 point haul vs. Ipswich. Now is the perfect time to try and sell high on the Fulham forward. Jimenez will have his moments going forward. Being the starting striker and penalty taker on a strong EPL side, but he has shown he can be a very patchy player. I wouldn't be surprised to see another run of 5+ games in the single digits without a return. Raul is also pretty reliant on returns to rack up his scores with a GACS reliance of 45% and just 5.7 gPPS. For good reference Mr. Goal dependent Haaland is 49% reliant on returns...putting Raul who is going to return significantly less in a similar category.

While Muniz seems almost like a non factor these days, he is still coming off the bench to eat into Raul's minutes, unless Fulham are chasing the game. While I don't see him taking many starts from Jimenez, poor form coupled with Muniz starting to find his feet could see these subs happen earlier and earlier which would hurt Jimenez's potential. Jimenez can be considered a solid FWD3 throughout the rest of the season with FWD2 upside vs. the easier teams. He already has 8 goals this season, the most since his 19-20 Wolves season, but 3 of those have arrived recently after a long dry spell, two of which were penalties. He should finish around the 12-14 goal mark, but will have frustrating patches.

Trade Offer Value: I would offer out Jimenez in a deal for under-performing strikers who have proven to have higher ceilings, are on better teams, or are in a little slump. Forwards such as: Jackson, Solanke, and Son come to mind. For the latter especially you will need to offer a very solid +1, think in the lines of a MID2/3 such as Damsgaard, or Bernardo.
