Waiver Wire Gameweek 21
Here we outline our Fantasy EPL Gameweek 21 Waiver Wire targets that are 40% rostered (Ros) or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!
Lisandro Martinez (Ros 19%)
Prospects: Over the past 8 gameweeks, Burnley have only scored 6 goals, the fewest in the league over that period. In fact they've only scored 1 goal over their past 3 games, so there's a really good chance of a clean sheet for the Red Devils. After such a lengthy injury, Martinez is fit and a nailed option again. Despite Amorim being fired, we still expect the Argentine, who has been wearing the captain's armband in Bruno's absence, to lead Manchester United against Burnley. Martinez has started the last 3 games in a row and been averaging 9 PPS to be exact. He kept 1 clean sheet during this span of games and scored 12 FPts, so we're hoping for another double digit outing against the Clarets.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him
Vitaly Janelt (Ros 13%)
Prospects: Vitaly Janelt has recently emerged as one of the best MID-4 options around. He's rarely ever been considered as a starting option for any roster, but he's started the last 5 games for the Bees and been averaging just over 14 PPS. In his most recent outing, he put up a whopping 24.75 FPts along with 2 assists. That's now 3 assists in 4 games and he's not showing any signs of slowing down. At one point it seemed like he displaced Damsgaard from the Bees starting XI, but both started in their last match and Janelt still retained set pieces, taking 3 of the 5 corners that the Bees were awarded. Janelt's floor has always been decent, thanks to his defensive work rate, but playing alongside Yarmolyuk has definitely given him a bit more license and freedom to showcase his attacking potential. Grab him while he's hot!
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him
Tolu Arokodare (Ros 6%)
Prospects: I know we said that there's probably no options whatsoever from the likes of Burnley and Wolves, but Wolves have actually been performing better despite what their actual results have been saying. Although Mane and Hwang stole the headlines in their big win against West Ham, Arokodare has been going slightly under the radar. He's started the past 3 games for Wolves and been averaging just under 11 PPS, which are decent numbers if you're looking for a FWD-2. He's putting up the numbers we expected from JSL. In the game against the Hammers, he managed to put up 12 ghosts. Although Everton have seemed a bit more solid with their recent accumulation of clean sheets, the 4 goals they conceded against Brentford was a reminder of how much their defence has actually been over-performing. The Toffees' xGA of just over 32 is one of the worst in the leagues, so there's a chance they're actually due to concede more than the 22 that they already have. So can Tolu score his 2nd of the season? Lest we forget that he won the Belgian Pro League Golden Boot for the 2024/25 season.
