Waiver Wire Gameweek 22

Here we outline our Fantasy EPL Waiver Wire Gameweek 22 targets that have 40% rostered or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!

Conor Bradley (Ros 20%)

Prospects: Due to Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury, Conor Bradley has started as the right-back for Liverpool in their last 2 fixtures. In Bradley's FA cup game versus Fulham, the Northern Irishman registered the most tackles (6) and in Gameweek 21, he registered an assist and clean sheet, while scoring 22 FPts in his debut appearance in the Premier League. Although the Gameweek 22 fixture versus Chelsea is difficult on paper, the Reds appear to be title contenders, sitting 5 points clear in the Premier League table, and will want to continue their impressive form after an enthralling 0-4 away win versus Bournemouth, the second most in-form team in the league over the last 8 games. Trent owners should consider rostering the young DEF. It's worth noting that Alexander-Arnold may make a swift return from injury, so keep an eye on team news. Still, Bradley is worth picking up and holding to see whether he can earn another start.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him.

James Mcatee (Ros 13%)

Prospects: Since Chris Wilder resumed management of Sheffield United in Gameweek 15, Mcatee has been the Blades' 3rd highest FPts scoring outfielder (51), sitting tied 2nd for key passes (7) while registering 1 goal and 1 assist. The on-loan Manchester City wonderkid has also been averaging 8.5 points-per-game in that time. Mcatee is a tidy MID-4/5 to have on your roster and now faces a goal-battered Crystal Palace team in Gameweek 22.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him.

Ben Brereton (Ros 6%)

Prospects: The Chilean FWD joined Sheffield United on loan on January 5th and was immediately provided his first start in the Premier League versus West Ham United in Gameweek 21. The Blades FWD scored his first goal, played 66 minutes and scored 16.5 FPts. Although he scored 0 goals in 14 appearances in La Liga for Villarreal in the earlier part of this season, the last time Brereton played in England, he scored 45 goals in 144 appearances for Blackburn Rovers between 2019 and 2023. Sheffield United face Crystal Palace in Gameweek 22, a team who just conceded 5 goals in Gameweek 21. Ben is a decent FWD-3/4 to bet on.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him.

Chiedozie Ogbene (Ros 9%)

Prospects: According to our Fixture Difficulty Tracker, Luton Town FWDs have the 5th best fixture of all teams in Gameweek 22. However it should be noted that Ogbene has been deployed as the Hatters' right-sided wingback defender as Kabore is currently away on AFCON duties. However the reverse-OOP asset is thriving in his new role, similar to Dango playing leftback for Bournemouth. Ogbene has started the last 3 games in this new position and played 90 minutes for 1 league game and 2 cup games. In the league game versus Burnley in Gameweek 21, Ogbene ghosted out of his mind! He scored 20 FPts which included 4 key passes, attempted 4 shots (3 on target) and completed 5 successful dribbles. In his last appearance versus Bolton, he scored in the FA Cup to help Luton progress to the next stage of the tournament. A solid FWD-3 for any roster.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him.

Danny Ings (Ros 8%)

Prospects: If you were like me and started Danny Ings in his first start of the season back in Gameweek 13 versus Burnley (A), the English FWD only scored 0.5 FPts in 61 minutes, so I would also have been skeptical to start him versus a reinvigorated Sheffield United (A) in Gameweek 21. However, Ings managed to score 30.5 FPts in 88 minutes, while registering 2 assists, 4 key passes while attempting 6 shots (2 on target). According to our Fixture Difficulty Tracker, West Ham FWDs have the 3rd best fixture in GW22 so punting on Ings could be a great option for managers needing a FWD-2/3. That being said, Ings' opportunity for minutes might be at risk as Kudus could be back from AFCON very soon because Ghana's qualification into the knockout stages are beyond their control as it stands. One to monitor.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him.
