Waiver Wire Gameweek 30
Here we outline our Fantasy EPL Waiver Wire Gameweek 30 targets that have 40% rostered or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!
Abdukodir Khusanov (Ros 34%)
Prospects: I will admit it, part of the reason I included Khusanov in this week's Waiver article is so that I can continue to remind people not to draft/waiver/pick-up/stream City defenders. Trusting/believing in City defenders is one of the most persistent mistakes a lot of managers make to this day. Ruben Dias was 92% drafted and is still 58% rostered; he has had 1 (one) double-digit return all season (home against SOU), Rico Lewis 31% rostered; 1 double-digit return (with an assist vs WHU), Akanji was 84% drafted, 36% rostered (having ben out injured since early Feb); 2 double-digit returns, John Stones 63% drafted, 20% rostered; 3 double-digit returns. The list goes on. There is a very real chance Leicester break their duck against City. However, by the time the fixture comes around, Leicester will have avoided scoring an EPL goal for 67 days (6 games) and have only scored 3 in this calendar year. They have also become the first team in English top-flight history to lose seven straight home league matches without scoring. Long story short, if there was ever a time the exception proved the rule, it is this week. Khusanov has actually been able to put some decent ghosting performances together (for a City DEF), so he is not the worst punt for the next GW. This is also a win/win stram. If he gets a CS and 8-10 points, you will have helped your team. if Leicester actually score and he get the usual -2-5 points, you will have experienced first hand the rule of not rostering City DEFs and will be sworn off them forever. WIN/WIN.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 2-3 FAB to get him.
Jarell Quansah (Ros 11%)
Prospects: Hopefully, we will get some clarity on Trent's injury situation between now and the next GW (in 2,5 weeks), however, all the info and language suggest (plus the video of the incident) that he will be out for quite some time. While Qunasah is far from the precision sharp passer that is TAA, and he is not expected to be involved in the attack as much, in the limited minutes so far deputising (vs PSG and NEW), he has, to my surprise, occupied a more traditional right-back role than I expected. He gets forward, he curls crosses, does the lot. He is also an aerial threat for set pieces. Liverpool will be hoping Trent is back soon, but in the meantime, Quansah is worth a pickup
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him.
Paul Onuachu (Ros 6%)
Prospects: Tall Paul finally did the one thing that kept him out of the starting XI, score a goal. Other than actually helping his team win football games, he had been doing everything right (mostly for fantasy tho) and we identified his lack of goals as the only thing missing from being able to become a nailed-on late-season revelation. We will all be hoping a goal last weekend will have done enough for his chances to succeed!
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 2-3 FAB to get him.
Jan Bednarek (Ros 17%)
Prospects: Concussion protocol kept Bednarek out of the Starting XI last weekend, but he will have 2 weeks to rest and be ready, so it is fully expected, that he will be back. Due to the Blank and the fact that he had missed last weekend, he was dropped in most of the leagues, but you need to act fast to get him in. He is a ghost point machine and an absolute beast of a man, who can get you double digit scores even as Southampton hurdel towards being the worst. ever. Premier League team. Ever.
Verdict: I would use a high-tier waiver pick or 8-10 FAB to get him.
Carlos Alcaraz (Ros 36%)
Prospects: Charly had been mentioned a fair few times previously in our Waivers and Sleepers articles and it looks like this is the last week he will qualify for inclusion, due to his rostership shooting up to close to 40%. Some might say that his inclusion here is obsolete, as he clearly is much better than a waiver pickup. Despite the numbers he is putting up, I decided to mention him mostly because I wanted to dissuade anyone from doubting the pickup when they look at the Everton fixtures. Yes, they are bad, but Alcaraz should be able to generate points regardless of the opponent.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 2-3 FAB to get him.
David Brooks (Ros 4%)
Prospects: Brooks and Outtara have promptly lost their places in the Bournemouth XI as soon as Tavernier and Evanlison came back from injury, despite their stellar performances. Bournemouth face Man City in the FA Cup quarter finals right out of the gate post-IB, and I expect them to go full strength against City in a bid to reach the Semis. That gives me hope that Brooks and Dango will get their chances in the midweek fixture after a gruelling test against City.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 2-3 FAB to get him.
