We ain’t afraid of no ghosts. In fact, we seek them – ghost points, that is. Ghost points are fantasy points that do not come from attacking returns or clean sheets. These can come in the form of key passes, shots on target, successful dribbles, interceptions, and tackles, among others. Identifying these points is essential for your Fantasy EPL prospects, and our Gameweek 37 Ghost Point Hunters article is here to help!

Gameweek 37 Ghost Point Hunters

Ashley Young

Position: Defender

Team: Everton

Rostered: 19%

Ghost Points Per Start: 7

Ghost Points Last GW: 12.5

Prospects: You can't teach an old dog new tricks, unless it's Ashley Young. Transforming from a diving winger to a set piece delivering fullback, the aging Toffee can still ghost. He received a rare nod in the GW36 starting XI and did not disappoint. Young posted over a dozen ghosties, stemming from 3 Key Passes, 1 Tackle Won, 2 Accurate Crosses Not Corners (ACNCs),1 Interception, 6 Clearances, &1 Blocked Shot.

Was this a one off? We doubt it, and who cares if it was? We have just two GWs left and Young has a date with Saints at home in GW37. This makes him a must pick up in the off chance he starts again and recreates this magic. Given that Everton won in somewhat convincing fashion away to Fulham with him in the lineup, Young should continue in the role and has the ability to deliver a haul v lowly Southampton. Act accordingly.

Verdict: Pick him up (and/or his colleague, Michael Keane) for this tasty GW37 matchup v Southampton.

James Ward Prowse

Position: Midfielder

Team: West Ham United

Rostered: 47%

Ghost Points Per Start: 5.1

Ghost Points Last GW: 13.5

Prospects: This absolute legend's recent fall from grace has caused us much consternation and heartache. Having consistently ghosted out of his mind for years, JWP joined the draft fantasy hall of fame awhile ago. In fact, for a good five t o six years, we maintained a policy of having the English set piece maestro on at least one of our teams every season. But his move north from Southampton hasn't really panned out. After a meh debut campaign with West Ham, JWP was a relatively unused sub on loan at Nottingham Forest and has been in and out of the current Hammers side. Even when starting, as his embarrassing 5 GPPS indicates, he hasn't really been able to roll back the years and rack up the points.

Legends never die, however, and JWP still has it in his DNA to deliver the goods. Against Man United - yes, the 16th place bottom feeder - he showed flashes of his former self. He dropped 13.5 ghosties from 2 Key Passes, 2 Shots on Target, 3 Tackles Won, 1 Accurate Cross Not a Corner (ACNC), 1 Interception, & 1 Aerial. JWP has yet to really build up any consistency this campaign but he deserves a final shot at glory. He's earned it.

Verdict: Pick him up!

Leif Davis

Position: Defender

Team: Ipswich Town

Rostered: 49%

Ghost Points Per Start: 8.1

Ghost Points Last GW: N/A

Prospects: Many, not us, had high hopes for Leif Davis coming into this season. While we take newly promoted players with a mountain of salt, he had crazy numbers in the Championship the previous campaign, and folks had fresh memories of Alfie Doughty, another buccaneering left back that could ping in crosses and ghost like a dog. But it hasn't really happened in 24/25 for ole Leif. There is still time, though, to reward fantasy managers' faith.

Davis has been suspended for the past 3 matches after seeing red v Arsenal in GW33. He's back now, and just in time for a meaningless tussle with fellow relegation doomed Leicester City. If he comes straight into the team, he can do some damage. His over 8GPPS shows he can post some scary scores and there might even be a clean sheet on offer against the goal shy Foxes (despite their recent mini renaissance). Leif is a nice upside differential play in this crucial GW. Our boy Jacob Greaves, who we shouted out last week, is another good option; he dropped a mouthwatering 16+ ghosties last time out. We will be looking to roster both this week.

Verdict: Pick him up for this favorable matchup v Leicester City!

Category Killer Winners:

  • Key Passes: Amad Diallo (5)

  • Successful Dribbles: Rayan Ait Nouri (5)

  • Aerials: Beto (8)

  • Accurate Crosses Not Corners (ACNCs): Anthony Elanga (3)

  • Tackles Won: Mats Wieffer (5)

  • Interceptions: Michael Keane (5)

Dr. Peter Venkman Award:

Sepp Van Den Berg (Brentford DEF; 3.5 ghosts): It's been a weird few weeks for SVDB. He was a ghosting darling for a stretch before going cold when we needed him the most. He boasted 8+ GPPS, so we tipped him for good things when we saw Brentford's matchups in the run in. But the big ginger has been a relative disappointment. Following a mediocre 6ish ghost performance the week prior, he just posted a sheepish 3.5 scary scores in GW36. This included only 6 Clearances, 1 Blocked Shot, & 1 Aerial. Thankfully SVDB was spared some blushes by the rare Bee cleansheet. But this doesn't give us any confidence moving forward in these final two gameweeks. With everything on the line, we'd rather turn to his teammate, the coyote (who we highlighted previously), than this fella. Shame, that.
