Waiver Wire Gameweek 5
Here we outline our Fantasy EPL Gameweek 5 Waiver Wire targets that are 40% rostered (Ros) or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!
Robin Roefs (Ros 31%)
Prospects: Not one for recommending a keeper during waivers, but Robin was on one this past weekend vs Palace, making crucial save after crucial save to hold them scoreless as the sides settled for a 0-0 draw. Sunderland are in the midst of a favorable fixture run that does get dicier in the coming weeks, but it’s clear they allow shots on target, and the Dutch keeper is there to make the saves when needed. He's currently only behind Vicario in points scored by keepers this season.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Ros 14%)
Prospects: I featured DCL in an earlier waiver article this season after his move to Leeds. He earned his first start this past weekend against Newcastle, logging 6.5 ghost points in 68 minutes. About half came from aerials, a stat he excelled in back when he was a reliable fantasy asset. The Leeds striker role is very much up in the air and up for grabs to whoever finds form first. I’ll give DCL some slack here, as this was his first start in some time, and I’ll judge him more on an expected start vs Wolves during Gameweek 5.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 2-3 FAB to get him
Emiliano BuendÃa (Ros 12%)
Prospects: Villa have endured a dull start to their campaign, failing to score in their first four fixtures. BuendÃa ghosted well (8 points) in his 45-minute cameo before the international break against Palace, which was enough for Emery to reward him with a start vs Everton. He managed just 6 points in 70 minutes but looked eager to be the spark that finally ignites Villa’s season, attempting some audacious efforts, including a bicycle kick and a long-range shot when Pickford was caught off his line. With Sunderland, Fulham, and Burnley up next, Villa surely seem due a goal, and BuendÃa will hope to keep his place on the teamsheet for that run (although Harvey Elliot threatens).
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him.
