Waiver Wire Gameweek 7
Here we outline our Fantasy EPL Waiver Wire Gameweek 7 targets that have 40% rostered or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!
Facundo Buonanotte (Ros 31%)
Prospects: According to our Fixture Difficulty Tracker, Leicester City midfielders have the 4th best fixture difficulty rating of all players in Gameweek 7, as the Foxes host the Cherries. Given the recent knock to Ayew, who for some bizarre reason seems to be the preferred choice at right wing instead of Fatawu, led the way for Buonanotte to start again. The Argentine MID rewarded faithful managers with his 3rd attacking return in 4 appearances (1 goal and 2 assists). Buonanotte backed up his attacking return in Gameweek 6 with 9.75 ghost points, which is a similar tally that he put up during his previous start versus Fulham in Gameweek 2. It was also very promising that Buonanotte nearly had a full house of ghost point categories, just missing out on a successful dribble. If Buonanotte is able to nail down that right-wing spot, for at least another gameweek, then he is a great punt as a MID-4/5.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 3-5 FAB to get him.
Vitalii Mykolenko (Ros 23%)
Prospects: After 4 draws and 1 loss, Everton finally got their first win of the season and there was no surprise that this coincided with Branthwaite's first start and long awaited return to action in the Premier League. In fact, both Tarkowski and Mykolenko both had their highest FPts return for the season so far and the timing could not be more perfect as the Toffees now embark on one of the best fixture runs of the season. From Gameweek 8 until Gameweek 14, Everton defenders have the best fixture difficulty rating of all players. Given Branthwaite and Tarkowski's high roster percentage in leagues, Mykolenko and Young are currently the easiest route to Everton's defensive points, with the latter expected to be eventually replaced by Patterson. In Mykolenko's last two starts, he averaged just above 8.5 ghost points, so his ceiling could rival that of a DEF-2. If Everton are to replicate some of their defensive achievements from the 2023-24 season, where they ended with the 2nd most clean sheets (13), then Mykolenko is a must roster!
Verdict: I would use a mid-tier waiver pick or 5-7 FAB to get him.
Timo Werner (Ros 17%)
Prospects: Heung-min Son seems to have picked up a hamstring injury and could be out until after the upcoming International break. In his absence, Timo Werner was given his first Premier League start of the season, with his other starts coming in the FA and EFL cup ties. In 76 minutes, the German FWD put up 8 ghost points, which comprised of 1 key pass, 2 shots on target, 1 accurate cross and 2 successful dribbles. In Gameweek 7, Spurs visit Brighton, a team that four first half goals versus Chelsea. Their high-line style of football should benefit the pacy wingers from Spurs which makes Werner a great punt for the short term. This punt should be approached with caution though, as the Spurs fixture is the last game during the gameweek and you would not want to be stuck with a benched Werner and no other option. That being said, this seems a no-brainer target for the Son managers!
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 3-5 FAB to get him.
Jakub Kiwior (Ros 3%)
Prospects: Rumours are starting to emerge that Calafiori may have sustained a knee injury in the closing moments of the game versus Leicester City in Gameweek 6. This is terrible news as Zinchenko and Tomiyasu are still ruled out injured, while Ben White is still struggling with his own knee issue. This could pave the way for Jakub Kiwior to make his first start in the Premier League. Fantrax managers who played during the 23/24 season would have remembered the Polish defender's purple patch where he was averaging around 16 FPts per game and got a goal with three assists over a span of 5 matches. It is worth noting that Calafiori's injury is most likely not serious, if he is to miss any time at all it shouldn't be past this gameweek, so keep that in mind when placing bids on Kiwior. It also helps that the Gunners' defenders have the 2nd best fixture difficulty rating for all defensive assets in Gameweek 7. Arsenal play on Saturday again this weekend so if Kiwior doesn't start he is an easy drop to another defensive streamer.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him.
Christian Eriksen (Ros 9%)
Prospects: We don't talk about Bruno, no, no, no! One of the biggest draft disappointments of the 24/25 campaign has now gone and received a 3-game suspension, leaving many-a-Fantrax-manager without their 1st round pick for the next few gameweeks. God only knows how ten Hag will respond. However, we've got a hunch that Eriksen might be the Manchester United MID asset to benefit the most. Despite Bruno playing nearly 3 times as many minutes as the Dane, Eriksen still took the most corners for the Red Devils (16) and is tied with Bruno Fernandes for key passes (6) this season. So if you think Manchester United's attack will still tick without their main creator, then take a punt on Eriksen. High risk, high reward.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him.
Jack Clarke (Ros 2%)
Prospects: Despite not winning a single game this season, Ipswich are currently 15th in the EPL table! That's because the Tractor Boys have registered the most draws (4) in the league so far. Over the next couple of gameweeks, Ipswich FWDs have a decent fixture difficulty rating of 7th best, coming up against West Ham and Everton. The two teams are on either side of Ipswich in the league table and have both conceded 10 and 15 goals respectively. One player that might have changed Ipswich Town's fortunes from an attacking perspective is Jack Clarke. The young English MID got his first start of the season in Gameweek 6 versus Aston Villa and got the assist for the opening goal, along with 10.75 ghost points. This score included 3 key passes and 3 successful dribbles. Clarke could be a handy FWD-3 if you've got a player missing this gameweek due to injury or suspension.
Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him. If managers have previously rostered Clarke in your league you may need to up your bid to 5-7 FAB if you want to be guaranteed him this weekend.
