Waiver Wire Gameweek 9

Here we outline our Fantasy EPL Waiver Wire Gameweek 9 targets that have 40% rostered or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!

Curtis Jones (Ros 15%)

Prospects: Given the recent injury concern to Alexis Mac Allister, Jones was given the start on either side of the 2nd International Break and he did not disappoint! In Gameweek 8, Jones outscored his teammates with a 30 FPt haul, which comprised mainly of a goal and an assist. However, it should be noted that over the last 2 games, Jones has also scored 21.5 ghost points, tied for the most with Cody Gakpo. Although Liverpool face Arsenal in Gameweek 9, the Gunners are missing Saliba in the heart of their defence which could be a massive blow for the London opposition as well as an absolute gift for the Merseyside squad. There is no predicting what Slot might do with his midfield options, as the likes of Szoboszlai are yet to impress from a fantasy or real-life perspective. However, if you own the likes of either Szobo or Mac, then Jones could be a cheeky cuff from one of the title contending teams of this season.

Verdict: I would use a mid-tier waiver pick or 3-4 FAB to get him.

Ashley Young (Ros 22%)

Prospects: According to our Fixture Difficulty Tracker, over the next 2 gameweeks, Everton DEFs have the 4th best fixtures in the league. They host Fulham in Gameweek 9 and are away to 19th place Southampton in Gameweek 10. Managers will definitely be targeting the latter fixture but should still not be afraid to roll out an Everton defender against red-hot-Raul and his Fulham teammates. One of those possible options is Ashley Young. Despite the looming threat of a fit Patterson, Young is still starting games and scoring well. In fact, in the past 3 games, Young has been the 3rd best ghost point scorer of all the Toffee outfielders (24.5 ghost points, 8.2 ghost points per game). If you can get a piece of this Everton defence, as they slowly find their form again, then you might need to spend a few FAB for a possible DEF-2/3.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him.

Elliot Anderson (Ros 32%)

Prospects: There was a lot of speculation and concern about who would take up the mantle of creativity for Nottingham Forest, given the temporary absence of James Ward-Prowse and Morgan Gibbs-White, with the latter being a longer layoff. However Anderson did not disappoint managers who took the punt in Gameweek 8 versus Crystal Palace. Despite only playing 77 minutes, Anderson scored 21.5 Fpts, attempting 4 shots (2 on target), 5 key passes and 6 dribbles to name a few. This haul even included a yellow card! Anderson seems a bit of a no-brainer if MGW is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, especially since Forest MIDs have the best fixtures over the next 2 gameweeks and Elliot is already projected to score 9.2 FPts according to our models. If you badly need a MID-2/3 for your roster, then splash the cash

Verdict: I would use a mid-tier waiver pick or 3-4 FAB to get him.

Ferdi Kadioglu (Ros 27%)

Prospects: If you need a MID-3/4 for Gameweek 9, Brighton have a plethora of them to choose from, even with more coming back from injury. Despite playing out-of-position in Fantrax, the on-field left back Kadioglu, who has been classified as a midfielder, seems to have finally nailed a spot in Hürzeler's team as he started his 3rd game in a row and finally completed 90 minutes in the most recent fixture versus Newcastle. Since Ferdi's first start, he has been the 2nd best Brighton outfielder for ghost points (21 ghosts, 7 ghost points per game) only behind Kaoru Mitoma. Furthermore, according to our projections, we expect Ferdi to score around 9.3 FPts which I fancy taking the over on, given the Seagulls take on Wolves at the Amex. It's a super tasty fixture, so if Ferdi is free, you should definitely roster him.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 2-3 FAB to get him.

Casemiro (Ros 25%)

Prospects: Manchester United were given a massive blow to their midfield with the latest injury to Kobbie Mainoo which temporarily opened the door for Casemiro to get another start for the Red Devils. Given this injury news, managers should have immediately been rushing to roster the Brazilian MID as he is well known for scoring ghost points. In the season so far, Casemiro has the highest ghost points per start (9.8) for all Manchester United outfielders, as well as the 2nd highest ghost points per 90 (19.5), only behind Garnacho. In Gameweek 8, Casemiro scored 19.5 FPts, with no attacking returns. His haul was in fact a full-house of ghost point categories, with the main sources being 4 key passes, 3 tackles won and 4 aerials. Although Casemiro was substituted near the 90 minute mark with a suspected calf strain, if he is fit for Gameweek 9, then he should definitely be added to your roster as a MID-3/4 given his projected score of 10.1 FPts.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 2-3 FAB to get him.

Christian Norgaard (Ros 33%)

Prospects: If you're one of those managers that is out of FAB or have a really low waiver-priority, you might struggle to waiver in some of the aforementioned assets. Therefore, grabbing Norgaard as a MID-4/5 could be a great gamble for your Gameweek 9 team especially considering that they play Ipswich at home, who rank as the 4th easiest opponent for MIDs. Despite missing a few games for the Bees, Norgaard seems to have picked up exactly where he left off. He currently has the best ghost point per 90 (9.0) of all Brentford MIDs, even better than Damsgaard who has been a breath of fresh air in the landscape of available midfield assets. This is by no means a ROS play, so I would not be bursting the bank to get him, but he is most definitely worth a go in favourable matchups.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him.
