Welcome to the Tuesday Tactical Takeaway, where we take a weekly look across the Fantrax EPL Draft landscape and ask the important questions: what went wrong, what went right, who is quietly cooking, and who should probably be taking a long, hard look at their squad.
We’ll dig into the moves, performances, trends and general nonsense that shaped the week and, most importantly, figure out what actually matters going forward. Sometimes a development changes the entire draft landscape; sometimes it changes absolutely nothing. First things first, this was decidedly not my favorite gameweek and I was touching grass after the first set of games on Saturday.
The Key Performance Indicators
To kick things off, we’ll take a look at 3-5 of the biggest talking points from the weekend - the performances, trends, tactical wrinkles, and developments that caught our attention and could have a meaningful impact on the Fantrax EPL Draft landscape. Some will prove important; some will prove to be nothing more than a brief statistical curiosity.
Belloumi Bangs, Hull Remains Undefeated
What an embarrassing misread of a ball and defensive effort (might be an insult to the word 'defensive') from Jorrel Hato. I would truly love to know what was going on in his brain as the ball bounced over his head and was subsequently banged home past his keeper. For everyone's enjoyment, I've envisioned it.
The ball careened weakly into the box, and for approximately 0.7 seconds, I had everything under control. I saw the ball, I felt Belloumi looming behind me, I saw the situation develop, I've made thousands of clearances before, this should be no different! The ball decided to hit a trampoline cleverly hidden as grass, bounce over my beautiful head, and enter a completely different dimension, zip code and layer of the atmosphere. I had prepared to deal with it at head height, only to lose it over my head as I glitched out. I turn around, watch Belloumi volley it, and I thought, surely someone else is going to stop this. Nobody did. Is that the sound of me being sold in the winter window?
