Fantrax EPL: Gameweek 19 Hot or Cold

Updated: May 3, 2022

Our Gameweek 19 Hot or Cold article is here to outline the current prospects of key Fantasy EPL players.  The 'Hot' or 'Cold' status will help take away your emotional attachment to certain Draft Premier League players and help you bring in the players that you need to help you dominate your Fantrax Draft League!

These Hot or Cold ratings are based on the data contained within the Weekly Rest-of-Season Rankings produced by The FF Chaps. The Draft Society's exclusive weekly refresh of Fantasy EPL prospect rankings!

Gameweek 19 Hot List

These are Fantasy EPL players that have risen in our Weekly ROS Rankings! Keep an eye on these Draft Premier League players, and bring them into your Fantrax squad if you can.

Alexandre Lacazette

Position: Forward

Team: Arsenal

GW17 Rank: 129

GW19 Rank: 65

What's Changed?: Alexandre Lacazette is so hot right now. The Frenchman is benefitting greatly from Auba being a naughty boy, leading the line for Arsenal and bringing home plenty of Fantrax points. Lacazette is the 6th highest scoring player over the last three GWs (although of course lots of players have had games postponed). I've moved him up to 65th overall this week, as he looks set to continue as the main Arsenal striker for the time being, and Saka, Smith Rowe, Odegaard and of course Martinelli are all on very good form behind him. Lacazette now sits alongside fellow forwards Greenwood, Zaha, and King in my rankings. Martinelli is the highest scoring player from the last three GWs by the way, much to the dismay of the many managers (myself included) who signed and then dropped the young Brazilian a few weeks ago before his hot streak really kicked off.

Armando Broja

Position: Forward

Team: Southampton

GW17 Rank: 99

GW19 Rank: 87

What's Changed?: I really like Armando Broja at the moment. I've moved the Albanian striker up to 87th overall, after his goal and assist against Palace in GW17. The Chelsea loanee hasn't had the best of times with form, fitness, and playing time since arriving on the South Coast, but I think that will change very soon. Broja has rarely been getting the full 90 minutes, or consecutive starts for that matter, but I think Southampton need his raw talent if they are to survive the drop. A forward on the rise with little name value; Broja is an ideal trade target ahead of Christmas.

Romain Saiss

Position: Defender

Team: Wolves

GW17 Rank: 91

GW19 Rank: 69

What's Changed?: I was ignoring Romain Saiss up until a few weeks ago, as I really wasn't keen on Wolves as a fantasy team to target. But their defence became very hard to ignore after only conceding once to both Liverpool and Manchester City in consecutive games. And their backline became an even better prospect after the clean sheet against Chelsea at the weekend. In the last seven games, Wolves have scored just twice, but also only conceded twice. A superb defensive stat, which has seen Saiss rise a further 22 places this week, now up to 69th overall. Kilman is nearly in the Top 100 himself, and Coady might actually be an ok option these days when Wolves face lower table opposition! If you've been sleeping on the Wolves defence, do your best to correct that. I now rank the Moroccan defender higher than Lamptey, Matip, Tomiyashu, and Targett just to name a few.

Gameweek 19 Cold List

These are Fantasy EPL players that have fallen in our Weekly ROS Rankings. This may be due to poor form, dropping out of the starting XI, suffering an injury, or receiving a suspension. It's time to consider trading out these Draft Premier League players from your rosters!

Richarlison

Position: Forward

Team: Everton

GW17 Rank: 71

GW19 Rank: 89

What's Changed?: Richarlison has been ruled out for a few weeks, and with three GWs occurring over the next 10 days or so, the Brazilian is borderline droppable. If you're struggling for fit players, I wouldn't be against dropping the Richarlison, who I now rank 89th overall. His Fantrax output has been pretty mixed this season, with just one display over the past couple of months (22 points against Arsenal on Dec 6th) really catching the eye.

Recommendation: Everton are struggling, Richarlison is injured, and he's performing badly from a Fantrax perspective. Try to trade him out for the aforementioned Lacazette or Broja, or someone like Martinelli or Daka who offer a high ceiling despite being rotation risks.

Eberechi Eze

Position: Midfielder

Team: Crystal Palace

GW17 Rank: 108

GW19 Rank: 126

What's Changed?: I picked up Eberechi Eze from the free agent pool shortly before his return to action in GW13, and I was pretty happy with myself. Fast forward a few weeks, and I've dropped him in a 12 team league without getting a single point out of him. It looks as though Vieira is taking it slow with Eze after his serious injury, and I can't wait around to benefit from the potential benefits at such a busy time in the fixture calendar. Flexibility wins leagues on Fantrax, and holding Eze whilst he's regaining his match fitness was holding having a negative impact on my roster.

Recommendation: I would recommend dropping Eze for players such as Kilman, Podence, or Cucho, or for basically any streamer with a good fixture. They should serve you better over the upcoming period. The fact that Will Hughes came back from injury and directly into the Palace side, whilst Eze remained on the bench, was the most telling factor. The likes of Ayew and Benteke continue to get chances under Vieira, leaving Eze and Olise riding the bench. Both of these midfielders are not worth rostering at the moment.

Mohammed Salisu

Position: Defender

Team: Southampton

GW17 Rank: 66

GW19 Rank: 80

What's Changed?: I'm a big big fan of Mohammed Salisu. His performances from mid-October through to the start of December were pretty sensational. But the last few games the Southampton centre-back has been pretty average from a Fantrax perspective. Salisu is certainly still worth rostering, but I've dropped the big man down to 80th overall. I'd rather roster the likes of Saiss, Cresswell, Cucurella or Targett at the moment, as Southampton do have a relatively hard fixture schedule coming up.

Recommendation: Try to trade out Salisu for the defenders mentioned above whilst he still holds decent value. You may be left to drop him to waivers in a couple of week's time.
