Fantasy EPL Gameweek 8 Sleepers XI

For this article, we use the % rostered from Fantrax. Our only rule is that each player we highlight is required to be rostered in 60% of leagues or below at the time of writing. Therefore there's a good chance these players will be free agents in your Fantrax Draft League!

GK: Aaron Ramsdale

Team: Arsenal

Opponent: Crystal Palace (Home)

Rostered: 55%

Points Last Gameweek: 12.5

ProspectsRamsdale has proven a lot of critics wrong with his start to life at Arsenal. Coming up against a Palace side that will be hungry to prove a point, I would expect Ramsdale to have a busy evening and potentially come away with a clean sheet once again.

DEF: Liam Cooper

Team: Leeds

Opponent: Southampton (away)

Rostered: 54%

Points Last Gameweek: 12.5

Prospects: Cooper has a solid floor, and could be looking at a double digit score against a depleted Saints team. Saints are without Che Adams, and James Ward-Prowse, which will only help Leeds' chances to keep a clean sheet.

DEF: Jan Bednarek

Team: Southampton

Opponent: Leeds (Home)

Rostered: 11%

Points Last Gameweek: -1

ProspectsBednarek seems to have earned his place back in the Saints XI, and could see a decent score, with Leeds missing star players Bamford and potentially Raphinha. I would punt on Bednarek as a DEF3 this weekend if you need a defender to stream.

DEF: Dan Burn

Team: Brighton

Opponent: Norwich (Away)

Rostered: 10%

Points Last Gameweek: 15

ProspectsBurn arguably has the easiest matchup of the week for a streaming defender. He is definitely worth a pickup, and if he is in the XI he is a must start for me. Burn is a DEF2 this weekend with DEF1 upside given the likelihood of keeping a clean sheet (38% according to the bookmakers).

DEF: Eric Bailly

Team: Manchester United

Opponent: Leicester (Away)

Rostered: 1%

Points Last Gameweek: 0

Prospects: This is a very ambitious punt, but one that if it pays off can provide huge upside. Bailly looks set to start given both Varane and Maguire are out injured. United's chances of keeping a clean sheet are slim in my opinion, but if it happens Bailly could offer 15+ points due to the amount of defensive work he will need to do this weekend.

MID: Michael Olise

Team: Crystal Palace

Opponent: Arsenal (Away)

Rostered: 48%

Points Last Gameweek: 15.5

ProspectsOlise came off the bench and scored the equaliser for Crystal Palace last gameweek, and could be due a start now. In a tough game away to Arsenal, Olise is someone worth punting on. If he is a free agent he should be picked up due to his prospects in future games as well.

MID: Nathan Redmond

Team: Southampton

Opponent: Leeds (Home)

Rostered: 17%

Points Last Gameweek: 0.5

ProspectsRedmond should be in the XI and on set pieces with the absence of Ward-Prowse. Redmond has had a poor start to the year, but now will be his time to shine, and hopefully take a more prominent role with success. I like Redmond as a MID3 this weekend especially if he is on set-pieces.

MID: Trevoh Chalobah

Team: Chelsea

Opponent: Brentford (Away)

Rostered: 51%

Points Last Gameweek: 18.5

ProspectsChalobah is one of Chelsea's top scorers this season and could see another start in the back three this weekend. He offers a decent floor despite being classified as a midfield, and as he has shown, is a massive threat from set pieces, I wouldn't be surprised to see a double digit score from him this weekend.

MID: Albert Sambi Lokonga

Team: Arsenal

Opponent: Crystal Palace (Home)

Rostered: 15%

Points Last Gameweek: 7.5

ProspectsLokonga seems like he will be Mr. Consistent this year hovering around 6-8 points each week. He should get the start against Palace and get a similar score. He will be a good MID5 week in week out, and offers stability to a team with a lot of boom or bust assets.

FWD: Rodrigo

Team: Leeds

Opponent: Southampton (Away)

Rostered: 55%

Points Last Gameweek: 9.5

ProspectsRodrigo will get the start in the absence of Bamford and should offer FWD2 upside. Saints are depleted, and Rodrigo will look to get his first goal of the season to continue to stake his claim for a starting role when everyone is fit.

FWD: Adam Armstrong

Team: Southampton

Opponent: Leeds (Home)

Rostered: 53%

Points Last Gameweek: 4.5

ProspectsArmstrong will have to lead the Saints attack this weekend, and despite some poor performances should get a few shots and key passes in this one. Whether Saints actually get a goal is up in the air, but if they do I would expect Armstrong to be involved somehow.
