Waiver Wire Gameweek 17

Here we outline our Fantasy EPL Gameweek 17 Waiver Wire targets that are 40% rostered (Ros) or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!

Bafode Diakite (Ros 23%)

Prospects: Burnley at home is always a great shout for streaming defenders. Diakite was highly rostered at one point but through injury and rotation has become widely available. He is averaging 6.6 ghosts per game, but a more dominant role and clean sheet upside could see him offer a double digit outing. Upcoming games against Burnley then Brentford could make him a solid DEF3 streamer. If Senesi is ruled out due to an injury concern there is a chance he could steal some defensive stats as well. Milo is ruled out for a few months, so there is almost no world in which Diakite is left on the bench.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him

Yasin Ayari (Ros 27%)

Prospects: Ayari is back fit, and with Baleba off to AFCON, a good bench appearance in GW16, and Sunderland at home in GW17, it looks like the perfect opportunity to get a start and a solid fantasy outing. Ayari has been hit or miss when he starts, but could be a key cog in the Brighton midfield with the loss of Baleba. He is worth a stream as your MID5 if you are in trouble due to AFCON/rotation/injuries. Don't expect a 15+ score, although if you get one great, but a solid 7-8 point outing could help you get through this gameweek.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him

Gabriel Jesus (Ros 22%)

Prospects: Jesus is FINALLY back fit. He looked good off the bench, and Gyokeres was poor and uninvolved, as he has been for a significant part of his debut season. Jesus will likely see some more bench apps before starting, and has to fight off Merino for the striker role too, but busy season is coming, and he could see some minutes on the wing too. Havertz is still not in the squad, and Jesus has a knack for finding the net. The forward pool is already shallow, and having a plug and play forward with the upside of Jesus is rare. Grab him from the wire, and hold him through the festive period if you can. He could get the odd start and try to stake a claim for more consistent minutes.
