Waiver Wire Gameweek 25

Here we outline our Fantasy EPL Gameweek 25 Waiver Wire targets that are 40% rostered (ROS) or below on Fantrax. These players should perform well over the upcoming period!

Tolu Arokodare (Ros 8%)

Prospects: With JSL gone, I expect Arokodare to see regular starts going forward for Wolves. This is very much a desperation play for managers who’ve just lost a forward like Mateta and need immediate help up top. The Nigerian striker should provide a relatively safe aerial floor on a weekly basis, which helps prop up his ghost points. He’s averaging 4.5 aerials per match since 12/27. Wolves’ upcoming fixtures are a mixed bag, but there aren’t many other attacking options in this squad, so at the very least, you’re filling the position. This one especially makes sense for the 5-4-1 and 4-5-1 truthers out there. If Arsenal beat Chelsea in the cup, Wolves will have a DGW in GW26 too..

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 1-2 FAB to get him

Douglas Luiz (Ros 30%)

Prospects: Vintage (well 2 years ago vintage) Luiz was on full display against Brentford this past weekend, cruising to 17.5 ghost points in his return debut under Emery. It felt like a throwback to his earlier Villa seasons, monopolizing set pieces and stacking those 3-point Key Pass/Accurate Cross plays. Luiz and Groß are shaping up as THE pickups this January, and I’d be willing to spend big on him. I don’t expect this kind of output every week, especially with Brentford playing down a man, but a forward-looking floor around 9 ghost points, with very real goal contribution upside, is entirely conceivable for Luiz. Villa's schedule looks good too!

Verdict: I would use a high-tier waiver pick or 40-60 FAB to get him. If you don't plan on saving your FAB for the rest of the season I'd just blow it all on Luiz to be honest unless you're crafting your moves for stacked waiver moves and need to bid a bit lower on the Brazilian.

Wilson Odobert (Ros 30%)

Prospects: I suspect many managers dropped or faded Odobert after his monster haul against Burnley (myself included). That said, I’m a bit more bullish on Spurs after their performance versus City. I was concerned about their February run, but United and Newcastle don’t exactly look like defensive fortresses right now, and I don’t think Spurs will be easy to put away. Odobert’s benching feels matchup-based more than anything, and I’d bet on him returning to the XI next week. Forwards are scarce, and sometimes you just have to take punts, no matter where they come from.

Verdict: I would use a low-tier waiver pick or 0-1 FAB to get him
