We ain’t afraid of no ghosts. In fact, we seek them – ghost points, that is. Ghost points are fantasy points that do not come from attacking returns or clean sheets. These can come in the form of key passes, shots on target, successful dribbles, interceptions, and tackles, among others. Identifying these points is essential for your Fantasy EPL prospects, and our Gameweek 29 Ghost Point Hunters article is here to help!

This Ghost Point Hunters article is based on the Fantrax Scoring System. Check out our Ghost Point Tracker page for the full list of Fantasy EPL players and their respective Ghost Point capabilities!
Gameweek 29 Ghost Point Hunters
Martin Odegaard
Position: Midfielder
Team: Arsenal
Rostered: 100%
Ghost Points Per Start: 7
Ghost Points Last GW: 13
Prospects: It has been, by any metric - as well as the eye test - a poor season for Martin Odegaard. Beset by injuries and likely lack of sleep due to a newborn baby, it's been a tough stretch for the Norwegian. But he's still got a chance to turn it around. He seized the opportunity in GW28 to at least do some ghosting - a rare sight in that dreadful match - and he looked a bit more of himself. His over a dozen ghosties against Man United came from 3 Key Passes, 3 Shots on Target, 1 Successful Dribble, & 1 Aerial.
We've seen a few of these one offs from him this season; what's been lacking with Odegaard has been consistency. Let's see if he can crack on from here. Here are a few reasons to be optimistic. He's, at least temporarily while Saka is still out, back on sets, reclaiming right sided corners from Nwaneri. And Arsenal is getting some of their dangerous attackers back in the form of Martinelli and the aforementioned Saka, which should lift all boats. Now could be the time to get Odegaard in for a relative bargain.
Verdict: If you believe this is the start of a mini renaissance, trade him in on a relative low. Try opening with a 1:1 of someone like Maddison.
Leif Davis
Position: Defender
Team: Ipswich Town
Rostered: 66%
Ghost Points Per Start: 8.4
Ghost Points Last GW: 12.25
Prospects: Given how dominant he was last season in the Championship, many managers had very high hopes for Leif "Erikson" Davis this season. Alfie Doughty had provided the template in 23/24 as the swashbuckling left back for a newly promoted side that dominates set pieces, pumps in crosses, and scores ghosts for fun. But it hasn't really turned out like that for Davis this campaign up in the Prem. He has had his moments but just not enough. There is still time, however.
Over the weekend he delivered a tasty dozen plus scary scores, stemming from 2 Key Passes, 1 Tackle Won, 2 Accurate Crosses Not Corners (ACNCs), 3 Interceptions, 3 Clearances, 1 Successful Dribble, & 1 Aerial. It was an all action performance for Davis. Despite the struggles, his GPPS is still a respectable 8.4. Ipswich Town just concede too many goals and he hasn't nicked many attacking returns. He'll be available on some waiver wires and can be treated as a high upside defensive throw of the dice for the rest of the season.
Verdict: Pick him up!
Ryan Manning
Position: Defender
Team: Southampton
Rostered: 1%
Ghost Points Per Start: 7.7
Ghost Points Last GW: 10.25
Prospects: In a similar vein to Davis above, Ryan Manning is a decent ghoster for a very poor defending side. But his side has an even leakier back line. Nonetheless, we don't discriminate if they can ghost their way out of those unfortunate circumstances. And this guy has it in his locker to do so, even if he has done it relatively sparingly thus far this campaign.
The most recent example is GW28 in which Manning posted double digit ghosts from1 Tackle Won, 4 Interceptions, 9 Clearances, 1 Successful Dribble, & 2 Blocked Shots against the league leaders at Anfield. A struggling Wolves side - without its talisman - at home should be a much more generous fixture on paper. Rolling with Manning isn't for the faint of heart but in a game rife with streaming options, he's a decent defensive punt. Go with God.
Verdict: Pick him up if you need an upside defensive differential this GW in a favorable matchup at home to a Cunha-less Wolves.
Not So Fast:
Pape Sarr (Tottenham MID; 16 ghosts): This guy is a fraud. Not just because his goal last GW was actually an errant cross, but also because he ghosts well once every solar eclipse. This is evidenced by his paltry 5.9 GPPS. So when we saw that he dropped 16 scary scores in GW28, we were more than skeptical. Move on.
Harvey Barnes (Newcastle MID; 9.5 ghosts): Where to begin with this guy? Despite a very strong - some might even say the strongest - surname, the diminutive English winger is almost allergic to the supernatural. He's historically bad at ghosting (his current GPPS is under 6) and heavily reliant on attacking returns. Adding insult to injury - literally - he's very injury prone. So let's treat this near double digit ghost performance for what it is - an aberration.
One(s) To Watch:
Marcus Tavernier (Bournemouth MID; 17 ghosts): Ole Tavs is finally back from injury and coming off a monster performance. It's too early to tell if he'll be a nailed on starter, especially given the crowded nature of the Cherries' attack. But Iraola clearly rates him and if he can stay fit, he'll be one to roster ROS. He's a certified ghoster ghoster (with a GPPS of 8ish this year and last) and he has a penchant for attacking returns). If the price is too high right now - and it likely is given that haul this past GW - wait for a down game/benching and then pounce.
Category Killer Winners:
Key Passes: Luis Diaz (6)
Successful Dribbles: Jeremy Doku (7)
Aerials: Levi Colwill (8)
Accurate Crosses Not Corners (ACNCs): Anthony Elanga (3)
Tackles Won: Idriss Gueye (6)
Interceptions: Ryan Christie (4)
Dr. Peter Venkman Award:
Riccardo Calafiori (Arsenal DEF; 0.25 ghosts): We had such high hopes for this long-haired adonis, Riccardo Calafiori, the Italian import from Bologna. He showed promise earlier in the season, got injured multiple times, and now has forgotten how to ghost (he's scored a grand total of 1 ghost combined in his last 2 starts). Against Man United this past GW, he only registered one stat - a clearance - that yielded a quarter of a point. That was before he was hauled off early for Miles Lewis Skelly, who likely will dominate starts ROS (barring a deep CL run or injury). This combination of low scoring, rotation, and early subs makes Calafiori a drop until proven otherwise.
