We ain’t afraid of no ghosts. In fact, we seek them – ghost points, that is. Ghost points are fantasy points that do not come from attacking returns or clean sheets. These can come in the form of key passes, shots on target, successful dribbles, interceptions, and tackles, among others. Identifying these points is essential for your Fantasy EPL prospects, and our Gameweek 33 Ghost Point Hunters article is here to help!

Gameweek 33 Ghost Point Hunters

Enzo Fernandez

Position: Midfielder

Team: Chelsea

Rostered: 96%

Ghost Points Per Start: 8.8

Ghost Points Last GW: 16

Prospects: It's been quite the fantasy renaissance for Enzo Fernandez. An erstwhile mediocre scoring central midfielder has blossomed into a ghost point machine. After an underwhelming start to the campaign, since late November and a shift to a more attacking role, he's been a house on fire. He now has10 G/A to his name - already double his tally from last season. But, again, the ghosts are more impressive.

Enzo's GPPS has gone from under 7 in 23/24 to around 9 this season. More recently, he boasts a13+ GPPS form (GPPS over the past 3 matches). He is second only to Bruno Fernandes in Key Passes per 90 with just under 3. His last time out v Ipswich Town, Enzo dropped a mouthwatering 16 ghosties, stemming from 5 Key Passes, 2 Shots on Target, & 2 Accurate Crosses Not Corners (ACNCs). Enzo has been pretty consistent of late in terms of ghosting despite the attacking returns and Chelsea's form drying up. So this should continue ROS as they push to get back in the race for top 5/Champions League qualification. The only potential hurdles would be Chelsea' difficult schedule and the fact that Romeo Lavia is seemingly back in training and could force a shift in Enzo's role. But we're banking on business as usual for the Argentine in the final 6 GWs of the season.

Verdict: Trade him in - try capitalizing on the DGW by offering someone who doubles this GW (like Savio) + $.

Ben Johnson

Position: Defender

Team: Ipswich Town

Rostered: 1%

Ghost Points Per Start: 6.6

Ghost Points Last GW: 14.75

Prospects: We can keep this short and sweet. Ben Johnson randomly had a hell of a day. He paired a goal and an assist with a gang of ghosties. His nearly 15 scary scores came from 5 Key Passes, 1 Shot on Target, 1 Tackle Won, 1 Accurate Cross Not a Corner (ACNC), 5 Clearances, & 3 Aerials.

It's safe to say this was quite the aberration. However, it does show that Johnson has it in his locker to post a monster every now and again. Normally we'd say this isn't going to happen again so forget about it. But Ipswich Town has one of the best ROS fixtures for defenders (and other positions alike) and Johnson could serve as a break glass in case of emergency options in one of these favorable upcoming matchups.

Verdict: Worth potentially streaming in the upcoming favorable fixture run for the Tractor Boys if you find yourself in a pinch and need an upside defender.

Amadou Onana

Position: Midfielder

Team: Aston Villa

Rostered: 32%

Ghost Points Per Start: 5.5

Ghost Points Last GW: 12.25

Prospects: The other Onana, of the Amadou persuasion, has always been a mixed bag fantasy wise. As a towering CDM he has the ability to nick attacking and defensive points and is a set piece threat, but the consistency just isn't there. So one never knows what to expect with him.

After being out for awhile with a knock, Onana came back with a vengeance in GW32, albeit against one of the worst sides in EPL history, this season's Southampton. Nevertheless, he lit it up with over a dozen ghosties, which came from 1 Shot on Target, 2 Tackles Won, 3 Interceptions, 3 Clearances, & 2 Aerials. That is an impressive tally. But let's not get our hopes up just yet. He has a middling GPPS of 5.5, which is basically the same as the prior campaign. However, he does have a DGW this week. If Onana starts the first, he's very tempting. If you need midfield reinforcements, he could be your man.

Verdict: Pick him up and field him if he starts the first of the double v Newcastle.

Not So Fast:

  • James McAtee (Manchester City MID; 5.25 ghosts): We knew he would haul when we saw our opponent pick him up after the surprise City lineup was released. And he did. But let's not kid ourselves. He has never been a ghoster and he therefore needs attacking returns to be a serviceable fantasy asset. While he can do that in this City side, he also faces crazy rotation and they haven't been their best in 24/25. Let's see if he keeps his place this weekend. We have doubts.

One(s) To Watch:

  • Pablo Sarabia (Wolves MID; 6.25 ghosts): For the first time in the history of this feature, we're going with the same guy two weeks in a row. He's worth it. Another impressive cameo from the bench, Sarabia posted 6+ ghosts from 47 minutes after he came on for an injured Bellegarde. By all accounts, Bellegarde should at least miss the upcoming matchup v Man Utd and potentially more. While Cunha could just be a straight swap, Vitor would be wise to bring in both Cunha and Sarabia at the expense of Bellegarde and Munetsi. If this happens, the Spaniard could be a great guy to have ROS. In short, the monitoring is over; pick him up.

Category Killer Winners:

  • Key Passes: Enzo Fernandez (5)

  • Successful Dribbles: Jacob Murphy (5)

  • Aerials: Jarrad Branthwaite (9)

  • Accurate Crosses Not Corners (ACNCs): Pedro Neto (9)

  • Tackles Won: Jack Stephens (5)

  • Interceptions: Lesley Ugochukwu (5)

Dr. Peter Venkman Award:

Nicolas Jackson (Chelsea FWD; 1 ghost): It's been quite the rollercoaster season for Chelsea. No one really knew what to expect with a new manager from the Championship in charge of a very expensive and deep squad. After a solid start, the Blues went on a roll and inserted themselves temporarily in the title race before crumbling into their current poor form. Losing Nico Jackson and his 14 G/A for a few months certainly didn't help. But he's back now - and it still doesn't seem to have helped their cause. Case in point was the debilitating draw against Ipswich Town in GW32. He only mustered one single solitary point. This came from a mix of 1Tackle Won, 1 Interception, & 3 Aerials, which were dented by a dispossession and a yellow card. While Jackson actually isn't terrible at ghosting - for a FWD at least - with a GPPS of around 6, he really does need attacking returns to come close to delivering value. And he is in a drought. The other problem is that he is a yellow card machine. Let's see if he and his teammates turn it around in the next 6 games. If not, they'll certainly looking for reinforcements up top. Fantasy-wise, with a tough schedule and Jackson's current form, we're not expecting much. Act accordingly.
