We ain’t afraid of no ghosts. In fact, we seek them – ghost points, that is. Ghost points are fantasy points that do not come from attacking returns or clean sheets. These can come in the form of key passes, shots on target, successful dribbles, interceptions, and tackles, among others. Identifying these points is essential for your Fantasy EPL prospects, and our Gameweek 35 Ghost Point Hunters article is here to help!

Gameweek 35 Ghost Point Hunters

Jack Harrison

Position: Midfielder

Team: Everton

Rostered: 36%

Ghost Points Per Start: 4.5

Ghost Points Last GW: 19.5

Prospects: After a truly abysmal stretch, is Leeds Jack Harrison back? The wily winger used to take defenders on, pump in crosses, and rack up ghosts. But this campaign he has been lacking in starts and scary scores. He's been sitting at an appalling 4ish ghosties per start. Prior to this past GW versus Liverpool, Harrison had failed to eclipse 5 total points in his last 9 cameos. To deem it appalling is kind. However, he reminded us of the good ole days against Liverpool with a ridiculous 19.5 ghosts. These stemmed from a variety of sources: 5 Key Passes, 1 Tackle Won, 4 Clearances, 6 Successful Dribbles, 2 Blocked Shots, & 2 Aerials. Harrison was everywhere. The Ashley Young RW experiment is likely over and Harrison should be back in business. And Everton have a good schedule all the way up to Arsenal in the last GW. Why not?

Verdict: Pick him up and hope it continues with the good schedule.

Lorenz Assignon

Position: Defender

Team: Burnley

Rostered: 1%

Ghost Points Per Start: 7

Ghost Points Last GW: 11.25

Prospects: As one draft veteran quipped this past weekend - Assignon isn't the DGW hero we asked for but he's the one we deserve. It's always a random single game week player from a relegation fodder squad that makes your carefully planned DGW assets look like trash. That's why they call it the beautiful game. Assignon should not have been a huge surprise given that he can ghost and he had Sheffield United on the docket. However, a 25+ point haul, including a goal and an assist is still worthy of a double take. The French wingback added a bag of ghosties from 2 Key Passes, 2 Shots on Target, 1 Accurate Cross Not a Corner (ACNC), 1 Interception, 5 Clearances, 1 Successful Dribble, 1 Blocked Shot, & 1 Aerial. Like his colleague Dara O'Shea, who oddly blanked against the Blades, Assignon has proven himself to be a random upside defender. Use with discretion.

Verdict: Hipster upside punt.

Alex Scott

Position: Midfielder

Team: Bournemouth

Rostered: 3%

Ghost Points Per Start: 4.4

Ghost Points Last GW: 11

Prospects: Yes, we've been here before with Alex Scott. He made our collective pulses race earlier in the season with a tasty ghost-laden cameo before being sucked into rotation oblivion. Well, he came back from the dead in the second leg of Bournemouth's DGW - of course he did, he loves to spite us all - and he did not disappoint. Scott bagged nearly a dozen ghosts from 4 Key Passes, 1 Tackle Won, 1 Interception, & 3 Aerials. He is still quite a rotation piece - very few Cherry assets are not - but he can still haul when he is in the mood. Scott can be a break glass in case of emergency midfield streamer ROS when he graces the starting XI.

Verdict: Worth a punt if you see him on the team sheet and need midfield reinforcements.

Honorable Mention

  • Ryan Christie (Bournemouth MID; 35 DGW ghosts): Talk about a purple patch. The Scotsman just can't stop putting up monsters, averaging over 14 PPS in his last 7 appearances. The majority of these points came from ghosts. He is as set and forget in the engine room as one could be at this point. We salute you.

  • Martin Odegaard (Arsenal MID; 24.5 DGW ghosts): After a pretty middling start to the season, Odegaard has been showing his majestic form from the last campaign. The coup de grace was his masterclass this GW v Chelsea, where he posted 2 assists and a gang of ghosts. We're gonna need to draft him again next season.

  • Arjanet Muric (Burnley GK; 24.25 ghosts): The Bosnian has made Claret fans and fantasy rosterers tear our hair out at times. But despite his blunders, he can save a shot, eh? And saves equal points. He has largely become boom or bust but his booms can win you a GW, just like he did against SHU over the weekend. Stick with him ROS.

  • Kristoff Ajer (Brentford DEF; 10.25 ghosts): The Bees backline has actually started to look decent again after an absolutely dreadful stretch. And Ajer has certainly benefited. Remove the aberration against Aston Villa and he has averaged 17.5 in his past 4 cameos. That's set and forget territory. And the return of Pinnock didn't even dent it this GW. Stick with him.

Category Killers:

  • Key Passes: Bruno Fernandes (9)

  • Successful Dribbles: Jack Harrison (6)

  • Aerials: Virgil Van Dijk (9)

  • Accurate Crosses Not Corners (ACNCs): Eberechi Eze (3)

  • Tackles Won: Daniel Munoz (5)

  • Interceptions: Ryan Christie (5)

Dr. Peter Venkman Award:

John McGinn (Aston Villa MID; 2 ghosts): An unlikely recipient, John McGinn usually can drop 8-9 ghosties in his sleep. But not this week. We largely blame ourselves because we fielded him and needed a decent haul from this week. Our apologies to fellow rosterers. McGinn was in an even deeper role over the weekend and really failed to do much at all. Just 2 Tackles Won later, he ended with a miserly 2 ghosts/overall points. While concerning, his GPPS is still over 7 and this is a fairly rare occurrence. McGinn has a chance to get back in our good graces this weekend at home to struggling Chelsea. We're not mad, we're just disappointed.
