We ain’t afraid of no ghosts. In fact, we seek them – ghost points, that is. Ghost points are fantasy points that do not come from attacking returns or clean sheets. These can come in the form of key passes, shots on target, successful dribbles, interceptions, and tackles, among others. Identifying these points is essential for your Fantasy EPL prospects, and our Gameweek 37 Ghost Point Hunters article is here to help!
This Ghost Point Hunters article is based on the Fantrax Scoring System. Check out our Ghost Point Tracker page for the full list of Fantasy EPL players and their respective Ghost Point capabilities!
Gameweek 37 Ghost Point Hunters
Julio Enciso
Position: Forward
Team: Brighton
Rostered: 43%
Ghost Points Per Start: N/A (not enough starts)
Ghost Points Last GW: 8
Prospects: He was high on many draft boards - that seems like an eternity ago - as he had an impressive coming out party in stretches of the 22/23 campaign. But injuries have stricken him to just 3 starts all season. Enciso still has the goods, though. And he showed it in a brief cameo off the bench this past weekend v Aston Villa. He posted eight ghosties in 28 minutes: 2 Key Passes, 1 Tackle Won, 1 Accurate Cross Not a Corner (ACNC), 2 Successful Dribbles & 1 Aerial. There is some uncertainty surrounding Enciso's fitness but he passed the eye test this last time out. The Seagulls embark on a DGW against Newcastle & Chelsea before finishing the season at home to Man United. That is shaping up to be a nice sendoff.
Verdict: Pick him up! Even if he doesn't start the first of the DGW, he's still worth slotting in if you're short on FWD options, although it's risky.
Danilo
Position: Midfielder
Team: Nottingham Forest
Rostered: 15%
Ghost Points Per Start: 5.7
Ghost Points Last GW: 12.5
Prospects: We just don't know what to make of Danilo. The guy knows nothing but monster hauls or forgettable scores. Look at his last 7 point totals: 20.5; 6.5; 1; 24; 2.5; 18; 4.5. He is Steady Eddie's mortal enemy. Back to his old ways, he delivered 20+ points against Sheffield United, the majority of which were ghosties. Danilo's over a dozen scary scores stemmed from 4 Key Passes, 2 Tackles Won, 2 Interceptions, 2 Clearances, 2 Successful Dribbles, & 2 Aerials. He's become a break glass in case of emergency/high upside hail mary midfield option. Forest still have not locked up their place in the EPL for next season so they have plenty to play for and decent matchups, with Chelsea & Burnley left on the schedule.
Verdict: Stream if you're in a pinch and in need of upside.
Thomas Partey
Position: Midfielder
Team: Arsenal
Rostered: 23%
Ghost Points Per Start: 8.5
Ghost Points Last GW: 10.5
Prospects: For Arsenal fans, is there a more frustrating player than Thomas Partey? An exception player when healthy but unfortunately he rivals Reece James on the fragility front. He's only started seven games in 23/24 - and you can see the impact he has on this Arsenal midfield. Fantasy-wise, he flutters between CDM and CDM+ numbers. Partey has started three straight games and is averaging around 7 PPS. Most recently, he posted his best ghosties against Bournemouth with 1 Key Pass, 1 Shot on Target, 2 Tackles Won, 1 Interception, 1 Clearance, 1 Successful Dribble, 1 Blocked Shot, & 3 Aerials. This is promising but he could easily drop a 4 pointer this weekend. Having said that, he is tempting against a struggling Manchester United.
Verdict: Pick him up and use as late GW cover or slot in if you need some help in the engine room.
Honorable Mention
Alfie Doughty (Luton Town MID: 20 ghosts): We're really gonna miss this guy. He has proven to be a ghost point machine - and we can only applaud his efforts. He was due one of these monster performances after a few meh ones. Let's hope he goes out of the EPL with a bang.
Gustavo Hamer (Sheffield United MID; 19.5 ghosts): Is he auditioning for a bigger club? SHU gets relegated and Hamer doesn't stop ghosting. He is set and forget ROS asset and has been sneaky value this campaign.
Takehiro Tomiyasu (Arsenal DEF; 15 ghosts): Finally back fit, Tomi has nailed down the erstwhile heavily rotated LB spot for the remainder of the season. He showed his ghosting side against Bournemouth and Man United is looking like food.
Alex Iwobi (Fulham MID; 15 ghosts): He has been such an up and down fantasy asset this season. It will be interesting to see where he goes in the draft in a few months. But we know he has it - he proved it yet again v Brentford with a mouthwatering display.
Category Killers:
Key Passes: Alfie Doughty (6)
Successful Dribbles: Mohammed Kudus (14!)
Aerials: Teden Mengi (7)
Accurate Crosses Not Corners (ACNCs): Alfie Doughty (4)
Tackles Won: Casemiro (6)
Interceptions: Benoit Badiashile (4)
Dr. Peter Venkman Award:
Sean Longstaff (Newcastle United MID; 1.5 ghosts): The Magpie midfield has been a wasteland this season. Willock, Andersen, Miley, Longstaff, and countless others have competed for mediocre supremacy. Injuries have completely ravaged the entire squad but particularly the engine room. Fast forward to the present and fantasy managers are tempted by a Newcastle double gameweek. Sean Longstaff is the most gettable of the bunch on the waiver wire. And he's coming off a 12.5 point performance last GW. What's not to like? Well, a lucky goal masked a horrific cameo. Outside of the goal, he only mustered 1 Aerial & a Clean Sheet. This shouldn't come as a surprise. After all, he boasts a GPPS under 4. Even with two bites at the apple - assuming Howe doesn't shuffle the deck and leave him out in one of the matchups - you're essentially relying on him to nick an attacking return. This is possible but you wouldn't be playing the odds, friend. Longstaff, in short, is a DGW trap if we've ever seen one. Avoid unless you like to live dangerously.
