We ain’t afraid of no ghosts. In fact, we seek them – ghost points, that is. Ghost points are fantasy points that do not come from attacking returns or clean sheets. These can come in the form of key passes, shots on target, successful dribbles, interceptions, and tackles, among others. Identifying these points is essential for your Fantasy EPL prospects, and our Gameweek 38 Ghost Point Hunters article is here to help!

Gameweek 38 Ghost Point Hunters

Wilfred Ndidi

Position: Midfielder

Team: Leicester City

Rostered: 37%

Ghost Points Per Start:

Ghost Points Over 3 games: 7.4

Prospects: Ndidi has put up a solid floor of points for quite some time. He hasn't ghosted less than 5 since before March. Not exactly exciting numbers all around but it's quite impressive to see that solid MID5 floor week in and week out. Last gameweek vs Ipswich, Ndidi recorded one tackle, two interceptions, and two clearances to help secure the clean sheet. He lso notched his first goal contribution since September.

Verdict: If you need a MID5 on your final gameweek and are pretty desperate, you could throw him out vs a Bournemouth side fhat look all but done and defeated.

Omari Hutchinson

Position: Midfielder

Team: Ipswich

Rostered: 59%

Ghost Points Over 3 games: 9.75

Prospects: Former Chelsea man, Championship star, and draft darling for some, Omari has put up some fantastic point totals as of late. Last 3 games are all 90 minute starts where he hasn't dipped below 12 points( the 12.5 score on 5/3 included an assist). During this stretch, he has posted over 8 key passes, 6 CoS, and 5 ACNCs. He's putting up the numbers I thought he'd have all season when I took him in my draft in August.

Verdict: I like Omari as a MID3 punt with MID2 upside on the final day vs West Ham. Final gameweeks always have shenanigans and Omari could help put on a show before likely playing in the Championship again next season.

Rayan Ait-Nouri

Position: Defender

Team: Wolverhampton

Rostered: 95%

Ghost Points Over 3 games: 11.5

Prospects: Rayan Aït-Nouri is currently the subject of significant transfer speculation ahead of the summer window. It's no surprise given the season he's had. He's put up 9.1FP/G this season and ended up as the 12th best Defender. He has a good amount of goals against, which could have put him a bit higher up to be fair. He's ghosted well over his last 3 but last week was a monster game for him: 5 key passes, 2 CLRs, and 2 CoS.

Verdict: At this point you gotta just roll him out once more for the final game vs Brentford in what may be his last game in a Wolves kit. I expect DEF2 numbers and at least 1-2 GADs but still a nice 7-9 point floor from the Algerian international.

Honorable Mention

  • Leif Davis- (D-IPS): Draft darling and Mr. 18 assists coming into the season never really got it going. Part of that was likely everyone expecting another Alfie Doughty. 11.5 ghosts away at Leicester would've been great all season for those that spent draft capital. He could repeat on the final day vs West Ham.

  • Thomas Partey- (M-ARS): Trending upwards in ghost output over his last 2 weeks. Scores of 7.25 and 9 make him a potential MID5 option on the final day away at Southampton. Should see 90 as well.

  • Ashley Young- (D-EVE): Was ghosting incredibly well to start the season but sort of dropped off in the 2nd half. Put up 6.5 vs Fulham before 8, as a sub, vs Southampton. Not bad for a 39 year old who turns 40 in July.

Not So Fast:

  • Harvey Elliot- (M-LIV): Elliott scored one goal and assisted once from three shots and four chances created in Monday's 3-2 loss to Brighton. In Harvey's 2nd start of the year he showed up and performed well. Was it enough to keep a place in the squad next season, who knows. Truth is though he likely won't start this weekend and hasn't historically been the best ghoster, or seen consistent starts for that matter.

One(s) To Watch:

  • Romain Esse- (M-CRY): Last gameweek in the wake of the FA Cup hangover, Esse made his first start of the season. He played 81 minutes in the win. He also notched an assist, setting up Edward Nketiah for the club’s opening goal. Hard to have a 'one to watch' category at the end of the season but I liked what I saw from the 20 year old. With Eze potentially leaving, perhaps Esse is worth keeping an eye on for draft date.

Category Killer Winners:

  • Key Passes: Brajan Gruda (5)

  • Successful Dribbles: Omari Hutchinson (4)

  • Aerials: Jacob Greaves (9)

  • Accurate Crosses Not Corners (ACNCs): Ashley Young (3)

  • Tackles Won: Neco WIlliams (4)

  • Interceptions: Neco WIlliams (7)

Dr. Peter Venkman Award:

Alex Iwobi- (M-FUL): Oh man. I really hope Iwobi didn't cost you the season in a playoff matchup in GW37. He only mustered 0.75 FPts, which was his LOWEST score since October '22. If you got burned, I'm sorry. This was in a 3-2 WIN vs Brentford, too, which makes it sting extra.
