Bournemouth Sleepers
As noted above, these are potential Fantrax Sleepers from Bournemouth. These Fantasy EPL players are likely to be drafted in the later rounds. Read below for the under-the-radar players who could provide excellent value in your pre-season draft.
Ryan Christie/Jaidon Anthony
Position: Midfielder/Forward
21/22 Points: 366/414 (53rd best defender)
21/22 Points Per Start: 10.9 (36 starts)/11.4 (38 starts)
22/23 Projected Points Per Start: 7.7 (31 starts) / 7.3 (34 starts)
Recommended Draft Pick: Pick up after GW4
Overview: I cannot, in good conscience advocate for drafting either Bournemouth winger, as I am positive I myself would not do that. However, it is worth noting their potential for when the Cherries fixtures ease up.
I will say this, it was bloody difficult to recommend even one draftable Sleeper from this Bournemouth team, who have a combination of lack of transfer activity and the worst EPL starting schedule to essentially kill all their players' draft day value.
Like most of their attacking teammates, Christie and Anthony had mighty impressive seasons in the Championship last season, and it looks like the lack of signings will make them nailed for 30+ starts during the season. The reason they both qualify for sleeper/streamer status is their impressive ghost points per 90 numbers. Christie managed 8.9 gPP90 and Anthony 8.5 gPP90. With the attacking returns likely dropping, impressive ghost point production is the go-to metric to determine streamer value (although their gPP90 will surely drop in the EPL, too).
Honorable Mention(s):
As bleak as Bournemouth players are looking for fantasy, I cannot help but mention that two of my all time favourite fantasy players are on roster here and neither should be forgotten as they could provide amazing streaming value any time the start, regardless of opposition.
David Brooks has reported for pre-season training following almost a year out while being treated for Hodgkin's lymphoma (cancer of the white blood cells). He is now cancer-free and ready to step up training, which is the best news for anyone suffering with such a deadly disease. I am sure he will be eased back into training and won't feature in the first team any time soon, but as much as we are all rooting for him, we must not forget how impressive he was last time he graced our fantasy teams!
Junior Stanislas is made of glass! I will concede that. He missed most of last season (and all of his seasons playing top flight football) due to injury. However, when he plays, he is majestic. He immediately becomes the driving force of the team and commands ALL set pieces, making him the best streamer in all the land. The overall lack of EPL experience in the Bournemouth squad has me hoping Stanislas will be a starter when available.
